A little *too* Raph 06-02-2011 01:48 PM

I'd have to go with a tie between Movie I April and 2K3 April

Powder 06-02-2011 02:04 PM

I gotta go with OT April, 100% all the way.

RiseAbove873 06-02-2011 02:15 PM

My favorite would be the original cartoon April. I love how she was a news reporter. Makes a lot more sense.

FearlessLeader 06-02-2011 02:36 PM

Mine is a tie between movie 1 April and Mirage April

mysterycolor 06-02-2011 02:44 PM

it has to be secret of the ooze april for me... love me some paige turco :)

plastroncafe 06-02-2011 02:48 PM

My favorite April is the one from Mirage Vol 1 #11.
It's one of the few times she's actually a well rounded character.

Close on her heels is Judith Hoag in the first movie.

Revan 06-02-2011 03:19 PM

YAY. Another excuse for this

4kids April is definitely my favorite. She encompasses all that is good in a character such as hers. She is strong, kind, and smart. I think, all things considered, she is the most complete version of the character

ABrown 06-02-2011 03:26 PM

This is tough. I loved Sarah Michelle Gellar's April in the TMNT movie. And April in the original cartoon will always be "classic April" to me. But I think I'm gonna have to go with Veronica Taylor's 2003 cartoon April as my favorite.

Icebot 06-02-2011 04:14 PM

Mine is April from the 4kids cartoon.

Redeemer 06-02-2011 04:44 PM

I am going to have to go with 2k3 April, jst edgeing out first movie April.
I think OT April is still be the standard, my only gripe with OT April is that she was to generic, she lacked character depth, but thats bc it was a kids show for the most part

Here's a similar thread that has been active fairly recently:
http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=30821

Before this thread turns into a ludicrous mess of arguing and awkward photos, I figured I'd state my take.

A lot of people think of Fred Wolf April O'Neil as the stereotypical damsel-in-distress who had to be saved "at least once a day." In fact, April wasn't all that helpless in the Original Toon, she just got in over her head far too often (as recently recognized by the Nostalgia Critic). Any human being wouldn't be much of a match against an army of androids, two muscle bound mutant punks, and a well armed ninja crimelord packing Dimension X technology. She also gets an undeservedly bad rap as being helpless and cowardly. While it's true that she may have often become a damsel-in-distress, it was usually because she always threw caution to the wind and got in over her head trying to get a story. The fact that the turtles always bailed her out probably gave her more confidence to keep taking foolish risks. Once she became close with the turtles, bad guys started to target her directly just to get at the TMNT. She really was a Lois Lane clone in that regard.

Also, OT April had a number of hidden talents, the most notable of which were her phenomenal driving skills!

I think the Archie Comics have probably done the best job with April's character development so far, making her a multi-dimensional character and a competent physical thread but doing it gradually (despite her weird supernatural backstory that was cited as an explanation for her quick progress in the martial arts). Given the choice between fighter & supporting character though, I'd prefer the Old Toon version over the "Lara Croft" portrayal seen in the Imagi flim. I like the idea that a person doesn't have to be a fighter in order to fight evil and help save the day.

it is a bummer that you think it would turn into a big argument :( I was just hoping to discuss how the various aprils rocked!

tone-master21 06-02-2011 05:26 PM

I like OT April the best.

For me, I can only go by the Aprils in the films, OT April, Mirage April, and Archie April. Movie 3 is a blur for me...since I've blocked the movie out. My cousin and I pretend movie 3 never existed :trazz:

Movie 1 April I liked, since she had a, "I'm going to try to fight, even if I do fail!" Movie 2 April was okay too. TMNT April, alright, but found her a little bit boring, or maybe it's just because of her role in that film that bored me, along with Casey.

OT April I didn't fully mind, and liked how she'd do almost anything for a good story. Brave and definitely would try to defend herself if she could, just was way too ambitious (Slytherin =P) and always ended up being in over her head. I still don't view her as being a damsel in distress, though. Sometimes it's not even her fault that she gets abducted or "kidnapped". Wrong place at the wrong time. I also liked the fact that her character did eventually mature to the point of knowing her limitations and not putting herself in danger for the sake of a story in the later episodes (Red Sky arc).

Mirage April was okay in the early issues, but just grew boring after a while as a character in general. Casey and the Turtles were way more interesting to read about.

Archie April I really did like, I suppose, in comparison to the others. I like how she gradually learned self-defense and martial arts. I also like the story with that boyfriend of hers. That was pretty interesting. The only gripe I had with her, just like with Splinter, was the character design. Man I couldn't stand it. She looked more like a Disney princess than what my view of April is.

So, guess Archie April wins this for me followed by movie 1 and 2 April and then OT April and then Mirage April and then TMNT April.
