Character Creators List
 

There are so many characters in the TMNT multiverse, and many of them were made by different people. Steve Lavigne for example made Sgt. bananas, Cudley The Cowlick & so on, while Dooney created Chote, etc. Can we construct a list together of who made who? Every time someone contributes more info, I'll edit this post so we can have a master list. & this goes beyond comics too, toy/OT characters also apply as many of them appeared in the Archie universe or were revamped to fit into another.

Would Hun count as Lloyd Goldfine and then adapted by Tristan? I know this is only about comic characters, but since Hun found his way into the comics...

Didn't Eastman create April and Shredder? Or were those PL and Eastman characters?

Also, all four turtles should probably be listed under Eastman and Laird...

What about Winters, Stone Generals and the monsters in the 2007 movie, did Kevin Munroe create them?

A good deal of the cardbacks from the Playmates toys of the late '80's and early-to-mid '90's credited character creators, so you'd best check those out. Also, Archie's TMNT Adventures series and its spin-offs, related books and collected editions claimed that certain characters were copyrighted by their respective creators (this was apparently before Mirage made everyone sign away all their rights), so check those out, too.

Ryan Brown created (among others) Merdude, Mondo Gecko, Wingnut, and the Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa (FYI, Ryan's dad, Bob Brown, helped come up with the initial concept for Moo Mesa)

Michael Dooney and Stephen Murphy co-created Ninjara.

Dooney created Gizmo, Fluffy Brockleton, Chrome Dome, Groundchuck, and Dirtbag.

Tokka and Rahzar were created by Eastman, with Tokka's look being inspired by a design by Stephen R. Bissette, and Todd W. Langen being the screenwriter of their debut.

Karai and Shadow were created by Eastman, Laird and Jim Lawson.

Nobody was created by Eastman, Laird, Brown and Lawson.

Dale Evans McGillicutty was created by Mark Martin.

Bloodsucker was created by Rick Veitch.

Lucindra was created by Rick Arthur.

Everyone introduced in vol. 3 (like Pimiko) were created by Gary S. Carlson and Frank Fosco.

Vanguard, Wally, and Roxanne Wells were created by Erik Larsen and Gary S. Carlson. DeathWatch and Lurch were created by Gary Carlson (with help from Chris Ecker, Rob Haynes and Jason Pearson).

Miami Mice was created by Mark Bode.

Cerebus the Aardvark was created by Dave Sim.

Gnatrat/The Fannywhacker (a.k.a. Boo Swain) and Lasagna Lagna (a.k.a. Lasagna Loves) were created by Mark Martin.

The Pre-Teen Dirty-Gene Kung-Fu Kangaroos were created by Lee Marrs.

Panda Kahn was created by Dave Garcia and Monica Sharp.

Planet Racers was created by Laird and Lawson.

CreeD was created by Trent Kaniuga.

Those Annoying Post Bros. were created by Matt Howarth.

The Last of the Viking Heroes were created by Michael Thibodeaux (with help from Jack Kirby and Richard French.)

Any Vaughn Bode characters who appeared in the "Times Pipeline" one-shot were, naturally created by Vaughn Bode.

Equine the Uncivilized was created by Richard Konkle and Jim Groat.

Destroyer Duck was created by Steve Gerber and Jack Kirby.

The Blazing TalesVarmints were created by C.A. Storman.

The Conservation Corps. were created by Dan Nakrosis and Paul Castiglia.

Gen13 was created by Jim Lee, Brandon Choi and J. Scott Campbell.

Wasn't Armaggon created by Peter Laird too?

From what I understand, Laird did the intial design for a mutant shark, but Murphy came up with the name and fleshed out his personality and backstory.

Also, Eric Talbot created Tatoo.

Kevin made Slash, right?

The 4 Turtles, April, Splinter, Saki/Shredder, Yoshi, Nagi, Teng Shen, Baxter, and Klunk are all probably best considered to be Kevin and Peter co-creations. Kevin did apparently create Slash on his own, though, same with Renet, Savanti, and Lord Simultaneous. I'd also imagine the Utroms and especially the Triceratons were primarily the inventions of Peter.

The Gosei family ( Hatsumi, Kenji and Hattori) were created by Kevin, Peter and Michael Dooney.

Venus was basically created by Eastman and Dooney at the alleged behest of the head of the FOX network.

Kevin Munroe basically created all characters originating from the 2007 film (with input from Laird and the film's producers). On that note, the 1990 film's characters were created by Bobby Herbeck and Todd W. Langen (Langen wrote TMNT II solo). TMNT III's characters were created by Stuart Gillard. Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec and Evan Daugherty get the blame for inventing the Platinum Dunes TMNT film's original characters (if they can be called that).

Well I know Kevin got the idea of Shredder from some cheese graters and he named April after a woman he was dating.
