April O'Neil fans, we have a problem.

I placed this on the "everything else" section as I don't want to deter the fans from the more TMNT-friendly sections. But this is a potentially serious story in terms of safety/brand recognition. All of us TMNT fans first envisioned April O'Neil as just a good friend/lady to the turtles. Sure, she may have had some cleavage in some incarnations, but it wasn't really revealing, and the movies minimized this more. But unfortunately friends, over the course of the last few years, some strange things have been going on that is changing the "ultimate identity" of what April O'Neil is, and it's not just limited to the character. NOW, we have an actual person as "April O'Neil" (see spoiler below for Twitter account). I was doing a Google News Search for "April O' Neil", and above the news results, this dreaded link came. If we know Rob Paulsen's Twitter, That DAMN adult star trashing our beloved hottie in the TMNT universe may be on to something. Officially, April O'Neil is a registered trademark of Mirage Studios/Viacom/Nickelodeon, so some legal action can be done about that. Over 47,000 tweets, nearly 40,000 followers. This is WRONG for supposedly a comic/cartoon character that's about being pretty, but not NAUGHTY! A casual fan may just type April O'Neil in Youtube, a news search, and ultimately end up with this age-inappropriate person. I am getting very worried that when April is back on the air in the new Nick series, it will lead to underage kids following such adult people. I wish Rob Paulsen, Kevin Eastman, or Peter Laird could get a hold of @undeux and force her to change her name to make things safe for TMNT fans, or at least give a fair warning. Plus, she lives in Los Angeles, exactly where most TMNT production is made, so there should be an effort to try to contact her. Unfortunately, it feels like a great "April O'Neil divide" has set up; the first camp being family-friendly, the other being age inapprporiate. Something needs to be done about this!

WARNING: LINKS IN SPOILERS NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE 17 AND UNDER.

I don't see an issue that someone calls them selves April O'Neil as an stage name.

pannoni1 09-14-2011 08:28 PM

Me too, I generally have nothing against sharing a particular stage name; however this particular April is X-rated; which can really be unfriendly to the fictional G-PG related version assoicated with the TMNT. 5-12 year old kids that may enjoy a high school sweetheart on Nickelodeon may find themselves after the show looking at adult material online. This is wrong, especially as many kids will watch this before even having Sex Ed classes (around 5th grade).

gobo 09-14-2011 08:38 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Eastman gave her permission to use the name.

Katie 09-14-2011 08:50 PM

So what if some porn star uses that name? People draw very explicit "x-rated" pictures of the turtles that I imagine wouldn't be too hard to come up with.....what's the difference in finding a porn star in a search for "April O'neil"? Probably would come up with some nasty drawings of her anyway.

If you have little kids you should have controls/ be around when your kid is using the computer anyway.

I hope this is a joke.

Also, Google Image search April O'Neil and see what you get. Every second picture has her depicted with huge tits ready to blow her shirt apart. There's a picture of the Turtles stripping her down in the 3rd f*cking row. Get a grip.

Nice site. I'll need some time to analyze it for offensive content.

Jester 09-14-2011 10:54 PM

I was seriously debating posting about "April" but I wasn't sure how to go about it.

It's funny, I actually watched the first TMNT movie tonight, and I gotta say...could've picked a better-looking actress for April. JUST SAIYAN...

Are you kidding? Google image search "triceraton" and check about 5-10 rows down. It's the internet. You can find porn of anything.

Not that this really matters or anything, but kids who search for April O'neil should have their google safe search turned on. No worries.
Unless of course the parents suck and they pay no mind to their childrens internet activity. Then that's their fault.

There's far worse things for young kids to look at than a naked, beautiful woman.

ThirdMarioBro 09-15-2011 12:14 AM

^this

This whole thread is one giant dose of epic lulz. Really? We're going to debate the merits of April O'Neil as a sex symbol on the Technodrome? You know how many "April in a thong, dry-humping Donatello" pics we've seen at this place? I can't stop laughing. Welcome to 1990.

LOL! You do realize that kids know how their wee-wee works well before 5th grade?

Seriously America, boobs aren't going to hurt you. Give them a squeeze. You might like it.

MrPliggins 09-15-2011 12:32 AM

Apparently she's a huge Doctor Who fan so she's not all that bad..

BubblyShell22 09-15-2011 08:25 AM

I bet if you search "April O'Neil" in any search engine you're going to come up with different results. Kids should be monitored on the Internet anyway and have safeguards against that stuff. It's pretty easy to do.

PAAATE 09-15-2011 08:43 AM

So, this is a problem in what way? OP would go crazy if he/she/it saw her page on 4tube.

ToTheNines 09-15-2011 09:16 AM

I've known about her for a while. I'm not a huge fan of hers or anything, but from what I've seen, she never makes TMNT references in her work.

While we're on this dirty little subject: anyone see the Ghostbusters XXX parody?

BWAHAHAH
I mean yes, yes you should.

plastroncafe 09-15-2011 12:47 PM

Well color me disappointed.
I checked this thread out because I thought it'd be about further craptastic portrayals of April in the turtle universe. Only to find it's about porn? Bah.
