HiTech killed off in reference to Paulsen leaving the show?
 

I was reading the TMNT episode guide on wikipedia, and something odd jumped out at me as the forum's resident Paulsen over-analyzer: HiTech was voiced by Paulsen in season 9. In the first episode of season 10, he is replaced by Mung. According to the Wiki, HiTech never appears again. Could HiTech's being written out of the series have been the "powers that be"'s attempt to "stick it" to Rob?

Or am I as a Paulsen fanboy reading way too much into this?

Hi-Tech's voice was replaced with Cam Clarke for the first Season 10 episode, "The Return of Dregg", and Season 10 had a different writer as well, so it was likely Jeffrey Scott's decision.

I don't think Rob Paulson is the reason High Tech left. The Technogang was gone also. And they already had a new voice actor for High Tech in The Return Of Dregg. He could have stayed as Cam Clarke.

I think the writer wanted to try something new for Season 10 instead of it being High Tech and the Technogang all the time.

Most likely they wanted to bring in Mung but not have Hi-tech there at the same time.

I guess the feeling is since Raphael could only be replaced, but Hi-Tech could be removed, they used that character's very on screen ouster represent their feelings toward Rob for rocking the boat.

If Rob knew this would be the last season he probably wouldn't have demanded a raise. I mean it was only 8 more episodes.

Could you imagine what it would've been like if they had written Raphael out of the show too?

That woulda made Season 10 actually interesting.

Actually, despite having a different voice for Raphael, season 10 might just be my favorite season. I preferred the batmen to the technogang. And the three season ten episodes featuring Shredder and Krang might've been my favorite story that the series ever featured.

gobo doesn't seem to like the OT very much, in his last marathon thread he said he only enjoyed a small percentage of the episodes. Not sure why he bothers watching it then.

You really don't know what happens in most episodes? Nobody is asking you to remember all 193 episodes off the top of your head, but going through the episode list its pretty easy to remember at the least the general plot of each ep.

Wait...episode list? I'm talking about just sitting down and saying, "What episodes stick out in my memory?" Anyone who watched any series can say, "Oh I remember THAT one!" with an episode list.

Well that's what I mean. I can think of at least 100 of the shows episodes off the top of my head. Most of them blend together because of the general repetitive plots the series had.

With the DVDs I've now rewatched all the episodes recently, so they're more fresh in my mind.

I think the last time I watched Season 10 was back in 2009...so its been a while. I hope the Season 10 DVD comes out next year.

Back towards the subject of the thread, but replace "Hi Tech" and "Paulsen" with "Irma" and "Darling" and that becomes more debatable, as Irma was the first Channel 6 crew member to exit, and I feel that without her, it ruined the chemistry of the station and later allowed Vernon and Burne to make their final appearances. It is still unknown why these members of the channel 6 crew were written out given we have no interview questions about this subject. It may have been that those characters, except for Burne were too light for the red sky enviornment. I've seen an earlier thread about this subject, and claimed that the non-April members left the show simply due to the original Channel 6 building being destroyed, which cannot be true since all members (Irma just once) appeared in the smaller Channel 6 building; plus there's a reference to Channel 6 once in Season 10.

Burne and Vernon were just anti-TMNT in Season 8, but they weren't funny anymore. I am glad that was the last of them, because if they weren't going to be comic relief we didn't need to see them anymore.

That being said I think the Channel 6 news crew was comedy gold and loved them from Seasons 1-7.

To be fair Burne somewhat respected the Turtles after they saved him from Titanus.

Was Jennifer Darling in any of the episodes of the last seasons once Irma was written out? Did she have a "falling out" with the powers that be asking for a raise?

Or maybe the characters were just written out. Its not like it always comes down to a voice actor.

Since by Season 9 all old characters were gone entirely besides the core cast, it doesn't matter. Its a shame, I would have liked to see at least Casey in the last two seasons.
