Fears of Past and Present

Everyone had something they either were or are afraid of. Share yours here! It can be something that scared you in your childhood or something that you have current fear of. It can range from something that makes you nervous to something that makes you downright terrified!
Allow me to start:

When I was a younger I use to have a nice box TV in my closet. The TV had this orangish light on it that would glow when all the lights were out. Well going to bed after watching E.T. one night, I was freaked out that E.T. was in my closet because the orange light reminded me of his glowing finger. So I always had to sleep with the closet closed.

Past: Chucky. Little motherf*cker used to scare the sh*t outta me.

Now, I wouldn't really say it's a fear, but the feeling of uneasiness when looking down from a tall height.

Zany Orange Dude 12-01-2011 05:17 PM

Man, he still sends a shiver down my spine!

Remember the movie The Gremlins, that movie scared the crap out of me! My parents bought it on VHS and showed it to me, God I couldn't sleep that night. I don't recall what freaked me out so much about the film, but I loathed it with a passion.

My biggest fear is birds. I'm scared of them, mainly because when I was little my cousin let out their parakeet, and it divebombed me. To this day, I'm terrified of birds, and I doubt the fear will ever go away.

See I'm the same, heights make me nervous as well

BubblyShell22 12-02-2011 09:08 AM

Yeah, I'm also afraid of heights. I can't believe I forgot that one.

Needles. I. Hate. Needles.

It's not the pain, it's just the experience. I have no idea why I don't like them; I just do.

I used to be just apprehensive about bees. Now I'm terrified of them.

I was mowing my neighbor's lawn a few years ago, and I ran over an underground bee nest. Needless to say, dozens of bees flew out and I was stung by six of them on various parts of my body.

So yeah. F*ck bees.

That is my all time fear! I hate bees! If there is one near me I run for my life!

I have a similar story to yours is the weird thing. I was around the age of 6 and I was outside cutting the grass with my dad when we ran over an underground nest of bees. I was the first to get stung. We ran for the house with the swarm chasing after us! It was like a horror movie for me! Ever since then I've been terrified of them.

I used to be scared crapless of insects. While I still don't like them, I'm not nearly as bothered by them as I was years ago.

BubblyShell22 12-03-2011 11:14 AM

Ah, yes. I'm afraid of needles, bees, and spiders as well. Just can't stand them.

I feel like we've done a million of these and I feel like I've said this a thousand times, but the one thing I've always been afraid of is aliens. The constant consumption of those terrible Halloween night abduction specials they used to show on FOX and a couple other places scarred me for f*cking life as a kid.

I see a grey in any form of media and I get extremely uncomfortable and prolonged exposure to it, say the end of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, makes me physically ill. I always feel like the ground is shaking or I'm moving extremely fast. It all stems from the Lovecraft-esque recurring dreams I'd have as a kid.

F*cking aliens. God. I feel uncomfortable now and its 1 in the afternoon.

I loathe any insect with a stinger. When I was about ten or eleven, my father and nine year old sister were outside mowing the lawn. They unknowingly passed a yellow jackets' nest; the sound aggravated the bugs, and they ended up attacking both of them. They dropped everything and ran like hell into the house. I remember I was on the couch watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Spanish (I was fascinated by foreign dubs of movies as a kid-- yeah, I was weird) when it happened.

I used to be afraid of the inner ear of people. :(

Let me explain, when I was a little kid my teacher had this science picture that showed the inside of the human ear canal and it was so ugly and graphic looking that it really disturbed me. One day I saw a movie where these evil little doll like creatures climbed into people ears and wondered around inside there heads doing damage, which really freaked me out and made the picture of the inner ear in my classroom seem all the more horrific. It got to the point I couldn't look at it without feeling sick. And one day when the teacher handled it to the students to pass around while she was teaching about our bodies I refused to look at it and when the teacher forced me I actually went into hysterics. The teacher actually had to take the picture down because of me.

Do you know how horriable that was, incoherently explaining to grownups with tears coming out your irrational fear of a science picture? They didn't understand and I had trouble explaining myself. They just thought I was an overly sensitive kid....

In my case, when I was younger, noisy electric fans. And yes needles, but less now than when I was little.

No, I certainly don't like stinging insects! I've been bitten both by wasps and bees and OW DID IT HURT!

But as for spiders, there are differing opinions:
Requiem for a spider

Anybody remember Furbies? I had one when I was little and the I kept it on top of a desk in my room. Well the damn thing would randomly open it's eyes and start talking in the middle of the night and scare the crap out of me! I'd wake up and see it staring at me from across the room. I wanted to get my to my parents but at the same time I was afraid to walk past the toy. Finally gathering up courage I took off running past it to my folks room. My dad put it in the attic but I could still hear it chattering, only now it was muffled and twenty times scarier! Even turning the switch to off it would still randomly make noise, eventually we just took out the batteries.

Oh, I loathed Furbies. My cousin had one, and it was so annoying.

Zany Orange Dude 12-08-2011 09:39 AM

I don't think many people liked Furbies after a week with the machanical toy, but they were popular among children for some reason.

Sage Ninja 12-22-2011 09:23 PM

I know this is going to very vanilla but I'm afraid of the supernatural. Like ghost and demons and crap like that bother me. I'm also afraid of spiders. Can not stand them!
