It's officially been 10 years since Volume 4 began

Almost hard to imagine, but Volume 4 #1 came out in December 2001. Its now the end of December 2011 and we're in 2012. It's been 10 entire years since the last Mirage comic started. And here we are 10 years later and it only went on for 32 issues and is unfinished. I never would have believed I would be following a single comic story for 10 years hoping for a conclusion.

I can't believe I was just starting High School back in 2001....amazing how its been 10 years.

Peter Laird obviously had a lot more energy at the age of 46 to do an ongoing TMNT comic than he has now at the age of 56.

*Thinks of the scene from movie 1 where Mikey & Donnie lay the penicillin pizza to rest on the ground*

Volume 4 brought tears to my eyes. Re-reading it now will be almost nostalgic and sad in a way, knowing this was basically the "end of the road" for the Mirage TMNT.

Even though Tales of the TMNT outlasted it, these stories existed in "present time" rather than jumping all over the timeline, so it feels different to me.

At least Tales #69 more or less let's us know how it all ends:

Everyone is screwed.

#31 was the one Peter posted on his blog. We should prod him about putting up #32, as he mentioned he was considering doing previously... I'm quite curious.

But I wonder if that was one that Peter let "slip by"? I don't own the issue so I'm unsure.

#69 was a Dan Berger story that showed us future Shadow as well as detailed the Earth's climate change and the coastal cities being flooded just like in the Archie TMNT series.

The Utroms essentially evacuate any humans who are willing to leave the Earth but of course the Turtles and some humans stay behind.

It really is a great story. And they finally make Shadow's character her own.

#69 is well after the pocket of time that Peter wasn't approving stories.

Maybe we can get him to get sentimental due to the tenth anniversary so that he'll shoot out #32 posthaste, heh.

But seriously, that would be a really great tenth anniversary commemoration.

And I still hope for the final Vol. 4 issues to be given physical releases. I'd even plop down the $10 cover price of the last actually released issues.

Sounds like one of those dark alternate futures, that a time traveler tries to prevent.

Oh, are you gonna guess on some special celebration on that too?

Check your stocking Christmas morning

They’ll announce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures vol. 2 on that date.

Sadly, that's not a tradition over here, maybe Santa will show up with it instead when the family patriarch of whichever house I am at coincidentally needs to go outside and buy the newspaper.

Aw man, it’s not fair that the dad doesn’t get to meet Santa too…

What's weird is the 10 years from 2001 to 2011 feel like a longer period of time than 2011 to 2026.

I don't know how that is possible, but it sure feels like it. 2001 to 2011 feels like a world apart to me.
