1st movie blu ray transfer?

I just received the blu ray set from Amazon and noticed some missing dialogue when Danny is talking to Splinter while he is chained up at the end of the movie. Shredder usually says something like, "What are you doing in there boy?", but this is not said on the blu ray I have. Has anybody else noticed this?

I just watched the movie on blu-ray a few days ago and I remember that line clearly in the movie.

Just played it again and that line is missing on mine. I even turned the subtitles on to make sure I wasn't crazy. The subtitles show the line but the Shredder doesn't say anything. Guess my copy is flawed somehow.

I just checked my copy and the line is there.

yeah, mine too. that's really weird that yours doesn't have it.

Could it be that you're watching the movie with 5.1 sound thru a pair of stereo speakers?

TMNT 2 and 3 look good, but 1 looks like **** on blu ray

Plasticplayhouse 01-08-2012 05:18 PM

Are there any added/special features on the BR version such as interviews or behind the scenes?

Yeah, they should stop releasing movies that weren't filmed in HD (at least I don't think the TMNTs were) on Blu-Ray just for the sake of having another release.

all of the old TMNT films were shot in 35mm, which holds WAYYYYYY more detail than 1080p video. for movies to be shot in 1080 HD is a gigantic downgrade from 35mm film. a BR release of TMNT '90 is absolutely justified and looks exactly as it should. the movie was designed to be a dark and grainy film, especially the flashbacks. golden harvest had issues with how dark the picture was, so they pushed the brightness, showing even more of the grain structure.

i'm a cinematographer, and aside from the obvious lack of any supplemental material, i'm completely giddy with the TMNT 90 BR. the movie hasn't looked this good since it's initial theatrical run.

There isn't any special features on the first 3 movies aside from the theatrical trailers, but TMNT has special features.

Bummer. I was hoping for some good spec features.

Set is worth owning as it's the best the Turtles have looked on any home theater

How's the quality of the transfer? I've not seen the blu-rays released here, though I've looked for the first movie every time I go to a movie shoppe. NZ just seems to get shafted on available titles :ohwell:

The quality is fine (not great, but not terrible), just fine. On a scale of 1 to 10 it goes:

TMNT: 6.5 to 7
TMNT 2: 6 to 7
TMNT 3: 7.5
TMNT 4: 9

All in all the best each movie has ever looked in any format!

The reason you can't find it at the movie store is due to the fact they were released as a set and not individually. Not all rental outlets made them available for rental.

Oh gotcha Joe... pity about the video transfer... would be nice for it to have an 8 or higher on the 10-scale ;) I don't even think I've seen the set for sale here. Is the set you have region free or only region 1? cheers
