Donatello's Gap

Please tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't like the gap in Donatello's teeth. Every time I see it, I think it's a mistake. It looks so out of place. :tgrumble:

I know there is still time before the show actually airs. So here's to hoping the gap is gone. :tgrin:

Jephael 03-26-2012 10:29 PM

I wouldn't count on it. Something tells me that's the way he's gonna look!

TurtleTitan97 03-26-2012 10:30 PM

I don't think it's going to be removed. In ever picture that shows Don's teeth the gap is still there. It was even on the turtle costume at Nickelodeon Universe.

Baxter Stockmen 03-26-2012 10:33 PM

:tsad: that is disappointing.

Zany Orange Dude 03-26-2012 11:11 PM

Sorry that bummed you out man. But look at the bright side, at least it isn't something like he has a leg missing and must walk on a peg.:twink::P

The gap is definitely here to stay. I like it, personally.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is ok with the gap!

I've said it before in other threads, but I'll say it again here since this thread is directly addressing the situation; as a guy who grew up with braces and other teeth related problems, I like seeing one of the main characters with an imperfection in their teeth. They're supposed to be teenagers fer crissakes, not every teenager has perfect teeth!

Jester 03-27-2012 03:17 AM

No problem to me...I think it adds character.

Candy Kappa 03-27-2012 04:35 AM

I really like it.

Agent 86 03-27-2012 06:05 AM

I don't mind the gap. I do like it when different interpretations of the turtles add individual physical traits (e.g. skin tones or physical differences like the "gap" teeth) to help differentiate them instead of all four being identical, except with different weapons or bandanas.

Besides, isn't a gap between your front teeth suddenly some modern fashion trend propelled by Madonna's longevity? It will probably just enhance Donatello's attractiveness to April.

SherlockJr 03-27-2012 08:11 AM

I'm another one who likes the gap. It makes this Donatello different from the others; plus, I think it's adorable. :tgrin:

BubblyShell22 03-27-2012 09:03 AM

I wasn't a fan of the gap at first, but I don't mind it that much now. It makes him look different, and my guess is that he acquired the gap in battle.

ToTheNines 03-27-2012 09:05 AM

One weird thing is that Nickelodeon seems to be "hiding" the gap. I don't think it was visible in a single shot of him at the Toy Fair, and his mouth is closed on that t-shirt while the other guys are smiling/gritting their teeth.

Maybe Don is self conscious of his gap so he doesn't smile a lot :tlol::twink:

I like the gap. Hey, at least he's not a hulking cyborg, right?

Nick's going to play up the geek thing with Don hardcore, it's pretty obvious. Giving him a gap is the icing on the cake for the shy, nerdy, easily embarrassed one.

But don't you think that is a little stereotypical? I'm all for don being the geek, but i just think it's an odd way of showing it.

I just hope he loses it in battle.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I'd imagine someone with a gap/missing tooth would have an impulsive tendency to keep their mouth closed more often than not.

zkarlette 03-27-2012 10:43 AM

Usually scrappy kids would have a gap not geeky ones ....., anyways I liked the fact that geek or not Don was also considered badass and the gap doesn't help him being taken seriously as much as I would like

The Fifth Turtle 03-27-2012 11:27 AM

I love it and Im glad its here to stay. Not all change is bad. Embrace change dont fight it :twink:.

Speaking from personal experience, geeky kids get it if they get beaten up. In fact, when I was a kid, my tooth was chipped during a fight with this one cretin. I gave him a good stomach punch in return, and he left me alone after that, but the damage was done. So, anyway, with Don's teeth, it's either because of battle or the closest we'll get to "Turtle youth tooth" problems.

I'm more curious on why Nick is covering it up, as "you made the decision, so are you having second thoughts?" Unless they go back and tinker with the CGI to remove the gap before the debut, which would both be lulz-inducing and amusing, actually.
