If the turtles aren't half human. . .

impetus 05-05-2003 08:14 PM

http://smilies.crowd9.com/kao/cactus/nn.gif...i should HOPE none of the guys would pee on you for trying to see their teeth!

though it DOES make you wonder how many of the more instinctive behaviors the TMNT have retained. I mean, i imagine that as they grew up they'd outgrow the more basic ones as Splinter taught them better.

heh, but you KNOW as kids, they had problems with it:

how many training sessions before Splinter managed to keep them from just pulling into their shells when attacked?
(( *Splinter tries to teach them BLOCKING and ends up having to talk them out of their shells for a half hour.* ))

How often was someone BITTEN in that household?
(( Mike: OWWWW! SEEENSEEEIII!! RAPH BIT ME AGAAAAIN!!!! ))

...though yeah... i guess puberty was a blast too. there's a WHOLE NEW slew of behaviors there...

Turtles tend to get more territorial as they grow older... NO WONDER LEO and RAPH get on each other's nerves so much! AND why Don hides out in his Lab so much: it's HIS space.

Turtles have "courtship" rituals prior to even ATTEMPTED mating.... they wave their forearms in the female's face and tend to nip and bite at her legs...
(( *Don wonders why he's got a strange urge to wave at the prOn site on his compute monitor.* ))

heh... yeah... all kinds of fun stuff to wonder about...

The Defibrillator 05-06-2003 12:14 PM

what about eating habits? besides pizza I mean  I had a 3 turtles in my backyard at one time and they all dug underground and tried to find worms. When they'd find one they'd bite it into pieces and gobble em up! It was really fun to watch!

Also, don't turtles hibernate? hmm...

impetus 05-06-2003 12:27 PM

Nice new av, TMNH. It's clobbering time!!!

*lol* Yeaaaah.. my box turtle flips for worms. Literally! Like when I hold one above her head, she'll try to walk on two legs trying to get to it. Only to roll backwards on her shell. I do have her eating worms with chopsticks though. (cause I'm still too much of a weenie to touch the slimy things wiht my bare hands) As Pumba sez "Slimy, yety satisfying!"

I imaguine if the Turtles stay warm enough int he winter, they don't go into hibernation. My pet turtle only goes into semi- psudeo hibernation in the winter. She just sleeps a lot more, but still will occasinally move about and look for something to eat.

I still think the TMNT are actually able to regulate their body temp, kinda like how the Jurassic park dinos too. Which means they some how are able to sweat too! :P

*stops thinking about this logical nonsense and goes back to work*

OMG, Poor Sensei...! Its a wonder he is still sane...

 that silly stuff is what makes me love writing their childhoods... :D

...so many EVIL things to embarass them with...

you know, all that info from kya is a good idea for a funny fanfic! just thought i'd throw that out there. i kinda wish i had a pet turtle. i've got a fish named sparticus, though. he makes faces and sometimes hypnotizes himself with the bubbler.

Not all turtles but some species do. The thing is, the TMNT were supposed to be pet turtles that swam in a fish bowl which I'm pretty sure don't have teeth. There are plenty of other things you can question about the TMNT's looks and stuff but you just need to look aside of all that. The show isn't intended to be taken into deep thought about how things are wrong. Still I think the origin of the TMNT and Splinter was the best in the cartoon. Most of it made some of the things such as that some turtles don't have such as teeth make sense because they're half human.

impetus 05-07-2003 10:36 AM

ok, ok, SOME turtles have teeth. although I could pull out the books and differentiate between turtles and terrapins (The TMNT are terrapins)....

DeathKnight, I was following your argument until you said this:
"Still I think the origin of the TMNT and Splinter was the best in the cartoon." J/K

HorseTechie 05-07-2003 01:26 PM

Welp, I can tell yah my box Turtle doesn't have teeth either.

Then there's the fact the TMNT have three fingers, whereas real turtles have five. Or int eh case of my 3-toes box, she just has 3 toes on each foot, then fives fingers on each 'hand'. Hrmm..

*lol* My box turtle has days she thinks she's a fish too. She sits in the deep water dish with her head under the water for a long time. I think she's fascinated by something she sees through the glass aquarium, on the floor below. :goofygri:
