Tmnt commercials
 

I know this is a stupid question but does any one know if the old tmnt commercials are copyrighted? Reason I'm asking is I thought it would be cool to make copy of my DVDs with some of the old commercials inserted in.

Doubt it. Copyrights don't stay active forever.

The advertisements contain copyrighted material, but what they're advertising is no longer being sold, so I don't see why anyone should care.

Selling such a DVD would be illegal. Personal use would be fine.

I dont want to sell them, just make it like old times with some commerials. So I could pretend it was still on cable. haha

Well if it's for personal use, you can kinda do whatever you want, hell you can even add in all 3 movies to the dvd if you wanted. Unless you plan on turning yourself in, the FBI won't know you're doing it.

Most of the commercials clearly have a copyright notice on them, and Copyrights last at least 70 years based on current laws. And all Playmates commercials starting around late 1989 mention (C)(year created) Playmates Toys, Inc. Its common sense that these are copyrighted given basic knowledge in Copyright law. This isn't like live concerts where performances aren't copyright like pre-recorded music is.
