Short Steve Barron Interview.

Short interview of Steve Barron on his work. Interesting that studio wanted tmnt 1 to be a mix of Live action/animation. Shredder facing off against 4 cartoons would be pretty wierd!

The "Take on Me", "Billie Jean", and "Money For Nothing" are such iconic music videos that that were just so greatly designed and produced. Thanks Mr. Barron for not only giving us such great classics, but also the animontronic turtles; had it been partial animation, it really would have done poorly since it would make more sense to be set in the Fred Wolf universe. You really got to give Steve credit for the idea of the animontronic masks.

he does, especially for not giving up when Jim Henson initially was not interested in being involved with the film.

The idea of animated Turtles in the live action movie just reminds me of Roger Rabbit. I'm also very thankful that Mr. Barron fought for the animatronic Turtles.

Wow, I can't imagine that film being any good if they went the route of animation integrated into live-action. The only comparable films of the era that I can think of tended to explain the phenomena as "cartoons" coming to life in the "real world." Would they have actually tried to integrate the Fred Wolf characters into a real world setting with that type of explanation?

It's kinda scary to think we never would have had the original TMNT film if New Line hadn't believed in the project so much as to pony up the dough to Jim Henson.
