How much is a cover proof worth?

Hey everybody, what would you all say would be a fair price for a cover proof? The one in question is for the michaelangelo Micro, signed by both Eastman and Laird.

The answer to your question will vary WILDLY depending on the cover.

Absolutely. I wasn't even aware of that "cover proofs" existed, and I've never seen them sold. But I can't imagine they would cost more than the original cover art, which can go for a hundred bucks or many thousands.

Anyone know if that was actually a good price or just something crazy from ebay?

From my understanding a cover proof is a un-creased, un-stapled cover that was used to make sure the colors, print, and alignment were correct before they sent the finalized product to press.

You see them all over ebay. I've seen prices range from $50-$400. The value is in the eye of the beholder.

Those aren't cover proofs by the way. They're just unused covers. An actual Proof cover would have a boarder that extends out past the art itself where it would have color information.

If you look at 0:50 in this youtube video, you can see actual proof covers on the wall of the meltdown studio.

here is an example of a cover proof:
