Best Main TMNT Vehicle
Vote up there ^
We got the: Party Wagon/Mutant Attack Van (87) Battle Shell (2k3) Cowabunga Carl Party Van (Movie 4) Hyper Shell (Fast Forward) Turtle Hauler (BTTS) Any others I forgot??? |
I have to ask,why was the Turtle Van referred to as the Party Wagon? The word "party" in a hero's vehicle seems odd. Its not like it was Mike's job vehicle from TMNT but the one they use to travel to fights and other uses.

I believe the term "Party Wagon" was originally used in the 1989 NES game and is what many have gotten the term from. Still, when you look at the others on this list, the others are nowhere near as iconic; even the Battle Shell wasn't used as much or importantly in the 4kids era as the Party Wagon, which was used throughout the whole series. In fact, I'd still think that the Turtle Blimp and even the Channel 6 News Van is much more recognizable than even the Battle Shell.
In the original Mirage comics, the VW van was probably the closest thing to a main vehicle. |
Donnie D, it was only in the 25th anniversary rerelease of the Turtle Van and in Turtles Forever. It was almost like Laird was purposely trying to downplay the Turtles battle vehicle that was the most prominent vehicle in the '87 cartoon.
The Battle Shell was only used for four seasons in the 2003 cartoon and then the Turtle Taxi took its place suring the Ninja Tribual. To me the Battle Shell WAS the Turtle Van of the 2003 cartoon in every way but name. Has there been an analog revealed to the Turtle Van for the upcoming CGI toon? |

I really like the battle shell but I feel the turtle van is more iconic. |
They call it the Party Wagon in Turtles Forever.
|
The Turtle Van(Party wagon) of '87 was the coolest. The others weren't so cool but the battle shell of 2003 toon seats were cool.

I've never understood where "Party Wagon" came from either. Was it anywhere else, like on the box of the original toy? I know I sure as hell never called it anything other than the Turtle Van as a kid.
Oh well. The Turtle Van easily takes this one. It's both iconic and strangely more down-to-Earth than any of the other items in this poll (except the Cowabunga Carl van, which ... should that even count?). I just can't get behind flying cars and rocket thrusters that Donatello built in a sewer in the supposedly more "realistic" show. Every 4Kids vehicle is groan-inducing. Also, you forgot the rather unremarkable green Hummer the Turtles drive around in The Next Mutation. Did it even have a name? (EDIT -- Beaten.) |
It's referred as the Turtle Party Wagon on the toy box
|
Seems everywhere but the FW series calls it the Party Wagon. There it's called the Turtle Van, and that's what matters. :P
|
The Turtle Van(Party Wagon) followed by The Battle Shell.
|
Gotta love the OG Turtle Van. Classic.

Oh well. The Turtles are teenagers, after all. Teens always name their things goofy names anyway. |

Can I edit the poll?

The Party Van! It ties into the comic, and the movie. Both of those they tooled around in April's VW Bus. It's a natural crossover.
|
I voted the Turtle Van (Party Wagon); first major vehicle I got for Christmas when I was young...also got the Turtle Blimp too [kinda surprised that wasn't one of the choices...oh well]
Anyways, my favorite thing about the Turtle Van was the fact that you could put one of the turtles on the van's door as you drove it along. I believe it was Raphael in "Hot Rodding Teenagers from Dimension X" that sits at the door firing the gun in the episode. Anyways, that's my vote and I'm sticking to it :D |
