Which catch-phrase do you prefer, Cowabunga or Booyakasha
 

So in the new TMNT cartoon, Mikey now says "booyakasha" instead of "Cowabunga". Personally, i like cowabunga better, but what do you guys think? Do you like Cowabunga or Booyakasha better?

I said this on another thread, but I don't see a point in a catchphrase. Though if one has to be used I would so rather cowabunga them booyakasha!

Anything but "booyakasha". It sounds awkward, but not the amusing kind.

You know, honestly, I love both of them. New catch phrase for new show, I get that. As long as Mike doesn't say it every other sentence, I'll be cool with it.:tgrin:

That is my thought. Cowagunga had entered lexicon before Michelangelo first uttered it but this "Booyasha" just sounds like random gibberish and awkward.

We've heard him say it what, once? Before that, it was just 'Hey, I heard he's going to be saying this'. Sure, 'Cowabunga' was a hip term before the cartoon came out, but do you realize how many times the Turtles said it during the cartoon run? We loved it because we loved the Turtles.

I liked how they incorporated the phrase into the trailer (at the end when Don says it). I don't think they're going to say it every other sentence, but I'm sure it'll be in every episode, during a fight scene, or when Mikey shows his love for something. And if every now and then, the other Turtles call him out on it, or use it for comedic relief (as in the trailer), I'll embrace it.

Of course, as a TMNT fan, I prefer Cowabunga, and always will, no matter how many catchphrases there are. But I'm not going to hate on the new phrase because I'm an old-school fan.

I prefer Cowabunga. I'm old school as well. Heck even other characters used it in their shows like Bart Simpson.

Booyakasha...that sounds weird to me. It sounds more like a battle cry to me really.

But...hey could be worse. It's definitely a lot better than Naruto's "Believe It." Now THAT was annoying to hear a lot.

I hope for the return of, "Mondo tubuloso!"

Cowabunga. It's old fashioned, but it's an actual catch phrase, and surfers can actually use it in real life. Booyakasha sounds stupid and 'cartoony' and can only be used if you're referencing... a Nickelodeon kiddy show...

All I'll say is this... 'Awesome' is Timeless. :)

Cowabunga if I had to pick between the 2. ALI G's catchphrase was booyakasha so to me it doesn't fit the turtles.

i think most of us here r used to cowabunga thats why.

I stand corrected. I thought it was a made-up word.

I think "Booyakasha" sucks ass. If he used it once or twice, fine, but if that's gonna be a regular thing, expect me to vomit.

I love both....well...maybe not love booyakasha, but I definitely feel it's appropriate. It, imho, has a very similar vibe to cowabunga. As much as I love the '87 toon, and while cowabunga will always have a special place in my heart, I see no reason to be upset that they aren't using it as the Mikey's catch phrase in this new show.

I'll be proud if booyakasha becomes this new generation of turtle's fans cowabunga. I'll be sharing cowabunga with my nephew, but it's nice to see that this new generation will have something completely their own.

Honestly, I'm sure alot of the original, Mirage fans were like "WTF is this 'cowabunga' crap?" when the OT came out. This series is trying to be different, rather than giving us the same stuff over again, so I understand trying to add new elements, like a new catchphrase.

Who the hell knows, maybe it'll grow on everybody.

I like both catchphrases.
