Will the random mutants have "character" this time, or just be treated like monsters?

One thing about the 4kids series I didn't like is aside from Quarry...none of the other mutants had any personality or character. They were all just treated as random monsters, especially the ones in the Season 4 arc or that mutant/monster that Bishop transformed that attacked Hun and the Purple Dragons. They were essentially all mindless beasts.

In the 4th movie we see something similar to that, with the 13 monsters again having no personality and couldn't speak...and were just monsters.

While I'm sure Dogpound and Fishface will be intelligent and speak like mutants from the OT/Archie, the other mutants in the trailer give me the impression of just being mindless beasts for the Turtles to fight.

One reason so many of the mutants from the OT/Archie are so memorable is they actually had character and could speak. I hope we see that instead of mindless monsters.

I like a mixture of both. I think it'd get really old really fast if they stick to one way or the other.

Quarry was great...I would love to see "Notes from the Underground" rehashed in a new way.

They more or less did that in IDW's Infestation story. Turtles go through caves and find monsters? It's always done.

No they weren't. They all had personalities. He's refering to the mutants being able to talk and have distinct personalities like the Turtles, Bebop, Rocksteady, etc, and not just be random growling snarling monsters that can't talk... like the random monsters shown in the 2K3 cartoon.

Mr.Turtle 07-22-2012 04:36 PM

i think it depends on how much they got mutated. some mutants r aggressive n mindless, like the outbreak. some r nice n intelligent, like the avian. they r called the guardian angels, protecting the city like heroes.

Cowabunga Carl 07-22-2012 04:51 PM

I think it will depend. I think we may see a mixture of both honestly. Something has given me the feeling the first season will be like Smallville where we had a freak of the week for the first couple of seasons until the show finds it legs.

Zany Orange Dude 07-22-2012 06:40 PM

I see it being a mixture. Some may have personalities while others won't.

miru 05-11-2013 12:29 PM

It's mixture. Some are intelligent, others are mindless. This also applies to aliens, but all robots are mindless

I wonder if "Mutagen Man" will be able to talk...

Yah, I was wondering that myself. Maybe Donnie will put something on his "suit" which will enable speech?

Well, the Comic-Con panel revealed TigèrClaw and Sir Malchi, who seem to be OT-type, several OT mutants, and the more 2K3-like Squirell-anoids (ICK seems to be unique).

There is also the Newtralizer, He didn't speak on that one episode from Season 1, But he will in Season 2 with the voice of Danny Trejo.

BubblyShell22 08-17-2013 04:51 PM

I think there will be a mixture next season.

I know. There have been no female mutants revealed, unless you want to assume some of the mindless ones are female.

I like to think that people mutated from humans to some animal would have more human traits to them, therefore more personality. Unless the animal was mutated at a more early stage in life, thus having the chance to develop and learn at young age.

But hey, it doesn't really match up with all the characters we've seen, but it's a logical theory.

It's a nice way to look at it. Shame the mutagen doesn't follow any sort of logic whatsoever.
