could we get a microseries issue on Rockstady and Bebop-HEAR ME OUT!!
Rockstaedy and Bebop... two morons from the OT that we know are coming back in the comic, and many fans are dreding, but does it have to be that way?
Okay, with all of the characters getting microseries issues, I think giving these two one would be a good idea. Why? If everybody only sees them as morons and comic relief, give us an issue that explores there backstory, and shows us thier more than just street punks. Something like... well, when my friend (A HUGE TMNT fan) and I were discussing these two goofballs, and he thought it would be cool if, say, instead of a street thug, rocksteady was some kind of ex-mercenary (Based on his military fatigues and love of guns), and he thought Bebop reminded him of some tough Brazilian coperia master (don't ask me where he got that from, he knows more about that stuff that I do O_o) And he thought instead of two dumb new york street punkjs, you had two dangerous mercaneriaes, with heavy training, decent intelligence, and deadly skills.... ...and then you mutated them into giant killing machines, with brawn and speed to match the intelligence and skills! The mirco issue would explore thier backstory as humans, make us care about them as characters, before the are mutated, and take on four turtles who make the near-fatal mistake of thinking they are two dumb punks on first glance... What does everbody else think? |
Sounds like something I'd find pretty cool. It could be a bit cliche maybe but...the issue could open with them about to be mutated, then go into their backstory and how they met, then at the end they're mutated, and shown either mutated or just their mutant forms in shadow.

I really like it. The two characters have a huge following so it only makes sense to not contain them within the first wave. The characters have the most untapped potential of all characters within the franchise. It would be good to separate them and them after doing so see how they work as individuals and then as a duo of stret punks turned mutants.

Most people are looking forward to them appearing. And they were already established as "dumb punks" in the raph micro.

I like it, but then you would still need 2 more to round out a 4 issue TPB.

Why do Bebop and Rocksteady need a backstory?
They're street punks who eventually fall in league with the Foot and then eventually get mutated. Shredder may not personally mutate then this time but that's all there is. |

Panda Khan, you are right in that they were only playing Raphael so they could convince Raphael that Apolex was on his side. They did not show their full strenegth and ability since it was an act. |
Who knows, they may get a shared mini-series issue, but I don't think it's all that likely, or necessary.
|
The only backstory I want is where Bebop got the idea to have a purple mohawk.
|
I can think of few things I'd rather see less... yet I'm almost positive these will happen.

In the OT it always seemed to play out that they had taken dumb thugs and combined them with dumb animals. Which is fine for a comedic kids show. ~S~ |
I thought most people were looking forward to this? In fact I remember some awfully fangirlish squealing happening on the boards when they had their cameo.

I think they should be established as character's before we start dreaming of their micro-series. As it stands they were only hinted at even existing in this universe. There are a lot of other things I would like explored before these two show up. Though if they are going to be a part of the IDW, I would like to further explore the idea that Old Hob mentioned in the Thread about Old Hob... I want all of the mutants to come together and form a gang. Imagine them as a faction in City at War it would definitely add an interesting level.
Though even as I think about that I have to admit more mutants make the TMNT seems less special and it seems foolish that they would have to hide themselves from society. |

Second, I also respectfully disagree on the second issue. In every other continuity with the turtles where they were trying to keep the number of mutants down, we've seen the fallback excuses of 'oh they're aliens' or 'oh, they're an acient race of anthros' to bring in wierd creatures the trurtles can relate to. If one is going to use the 'special' argument (Which I hate ) Then being born of the ooze or not born of the ooze is not going to make the turles special, when you've got an entire alien race of anthopomorphic triceritops running around!. And as to the number of mutants, compare... maybe a few hundred born from stockgen and Shredder's experiments with the ooze, both good and bad, to six billion plus humans. With the human tendency to shun and hate anything that's differnt, who do you think is going to be in hiding? The turtles are still outcasts, numerically speaking. |
I don't remember ever saying that it was "too soon" I said that I would like them to appear as character's before we get a micro-series on them. I like the thought that you put into a whole backstory with them as Mercenaries, but unfortunately based upon their appearance in Raphael #1 that doesn't feel like to me a viable way for their story to go. If I had used the phrase "too soon" then I would have meant because we currently know that this next arc seems to be dealing with Casey's Father getting his comeuppance and the next arc involving a Blood Brother, which has been all but visually confirmed by other members in the Forums to be this universes Slash. We have a lot to look forward to already.
Regarding the Fugitoid he always gets special treatment in my mind regarding the TMNT. He was a fully designed character before the first issue of TMNT was published and his mini chapters were released as a full comic once Eastman and Laird decided to include him in the Turtle books. I have no problem with him just springing up because that's who the character has always been. Finally in regard to the "special" argument maybe that's not the best way to describe it. Its more the quality of life. I remember in the Dirk Savage episode of the OT seeing that Giraffe Woman wearing a pink dress. I mean she just went out and bought that dress and has been living in the world. That to me says that the world is more accomidating to mutants than I think they would be. I mean so far besides April fainting when she met the Turtles everybody has kind of been alright with their existence. Heck even Old Hob was able to recruit a whole street gang despite being a mutant Cat. If their are a large amount of mutants it just seems that people would become more apt to accepting them in everyday society and the Turtles could go out and get jobs, and apartments, and credit cards. That's not the way I like to imagine their world. |
As long as they are in the same issue.
