TMNT Anime.
Is it any good?
I heard it was a promo OVA for the super mutant toyline. Has anyone seen it? |
haha its one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen.
i'd say its good if you're into the campy, corny, and ridiculous humour that only anime can offer. i personally liked it because it was so silly. :D so as long as you keep your expectations low. but just watch it dude. at least once. and read the prequel manga.. first.. actually. |
The anime is fun if you have 40 minutes to burn.
The manga series is superior, however: http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/2009/05/tmnt-manga.html :twink: |
have you seen my glasses? lol

Great collection, Oroku Saki!
I'm not sure if I've ever seen scans of those mini-comics than came with the Japanese toys. I'd be very happy if you could find the time to scan and share them! |

Very cool figs. And I love the Anime

I think the anime is fantastic. While it is so obviously based in the OT universe, it is nothing at all like it in how things are carried out. Yes, they have conflict with Bebop/Rocksteady & Shredder, and ultimately come out victorious (all the while retaining their OT personalities, more or less), but the events that lead up to the final battles are just ridiculous. In one, they all get really big and manhatten is flooded and then Shredder turns into a giant beast and there's a centuries old feud between both a good and bad fairy & then the turtles all morph together to form one crazy single being and there's an outer space duel blah blah blah blah. The other is a bit more 'normal' but is also pretty insane plot-wise. Love the animation style of it all. Worth checking out, and owning, if you can find the very well made bootleg DVD online for sale somewhere.

Just finished up with the 2-page spread images for the final volume of the Super Turtles manga, so if you guys are into this stuff, you'll be able to read the manga all through pretty soon (week or two maybe?).
If and when all those figure comics get found and scanned well, we'll probably translate those too. There is a similar comic thing that was in some magazines maybe? that I already did a page or two of cleanup on awhile back. |
Good stupit fun. I was laughing at it from begining to end. If you ever have a chance to watch it, do so. Also, make sure you watch the original, the fandub changed alot of dialogue. I think this line from the first part sums up the TMNT anime perfectly.

I love the fandub, such a perfect blend of OT's biting sarcasm and the OVA's blunt wackyness
|
I watched one of them and it basically felt like another episode of OT, except in Japanese and very clearly meant to sell toys.
|
I tought the anime was funny in its own ridiculous way. It parody's the anime of that time.
Thoughs are some awesome action figures!:tcool: |
I never even knew about it until last year, and when I first saw it, and even though this is the only TMNT release that has never been recorded in English, it was a solid effort and is fun to watch, even if it is not considered canon within the OT, since the Turtles don't gain their special mutations until the Red Sky, and this anime takes place pre-Red Sky.
I find the second episode to have the better storyline since it involves a trip to Japan and feels more like a normal OT episode in feel. |

If someone can get a good quality collection of scans for the whole series, I'll translate away. They're nice n short, so they'd be a quick job for me (quicker than doing those 100+ page books, that's for sure). |

Ya'll know I try to get my hands on as much Japanese TMNT literature as possible, but we'll definitely need some help tracking down all of it. Quote:
