Should Konami re-release the old nes games on GBA?
Hey everyone!
What do you think? With the new series growing in popularity, and sales going well, would Konami be wise to re-release all the old NES TMNT games on a gameboy advance game cartridge? Sega did one called Smashpack which contains 3 classic genesis titles, so its been done before. Three games on one cartridge I think would be cool, after buying the new Gameboy Advance SP I can't wait to get some TMNT gaming going! Opinions? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D |
Maybe if they would release the aracde version of TMNT and TMNT 2: Turtles in time and Maybe Manhattan project with updated graphics. I could see that happening since Mirage owns the rights to old cartoon characters.

I back up Karpo, if they could re-touch the graphics of the original levels from the NES Arcade game to match the REAL arcade game, then also re touched Manhatten Project, I'd buy a copy
|
And me, that would be a great idea. It could work.
|
I just beat Ninja Turtles 3: the Manhatten Project last night. 11 years and that game has yet to lose its charm.
Problem is, would kids acquainted with the ne series have any idea who Krang was? I don't know if they'd get the story line. Not it would matter. The games are great anyway. |
Well the story is not in exactly big part of those games, it's the gameplay.
|
The karpster hit it on the nose, I said it in another thread, but I know several non-TMNT fans that still play and love the old games, not because of the affiliation but because they are quality games with solid play value.
If Kids these days Saw Krang, I don't think it would matter to them. |
Yeah, I know. The games are tight as hell. I just think it would leave kids wondering why the heck the Foot Soldiers are robots, what's a "Technodrome", how come Baxer Stockman is White and how come there are so many weirdo mutants.
But yeah, I doubt it would be too much of a detractor. Once they get into how fun the games are the story won't mean a thing. |
They could just explain all that in the manual, or change the intro so it makes more sense. A lot of remakes change the plot a little so it makes more sense. I remember the GBC Crystalis remake explained the plot elements better.
But yeah, a remake of the NES games would be great. Or better yet, maybe a TMNT compilation on the GC, PS2, and X-Box, just like Sonic Mega Collection for the GC. Include NES TMNT 1-3, SNES 4 and Tourny Fighters, Hyperstone Heist, and perhaps the GB games. Maybe this time, have the arcade versions of the first and second arcade games as unlockable extras. |
I just think it's funny that there are kids who know the TMNT but not Krang. Me and my friends back in the day would have thrown many an object at kids who didn't know who Krang was.
|
Even if its just the old games I think it would be cool, and a inexpensive way to get some good TMNT games on the market fast.
|
Nintendo is doing the same thing with their Supe Mario advance series. IF Konami would want to do it, I doubt Mirage would object.
|
ya
i would want it. it would be like the old atarie games they have out on the new system
|
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Porting the old games would be awsome! Since 4kids has heavy ties with both Nintendo and Konami (Pokemon, Kirby, YGO). They could work out a deal for an exclusive TMNT compilation for the Gamecube (I guess it could be on Xbox as well if it has to be, but NOT PS2). The game would feature 4 player action and would include. TMNT: The Arcade Game, TMNT: The Manhattan Project, TMNT: Turtles in Time, and TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist. All with the superior arcade graphics and remastered sound. The game would include the original TMNT intro and sound track. The would be extra modes and unlockable content like the VS mode from Turtles in Time, video clips, character images, etc. (ala Sonic Mega Collection). As a bonus you could download the NES version of TMNT II (and possibly TMNT III) for on the go play on the Gameboy Advance. As for a name I would call it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Heroes on a Half Shell. As a big bonus you might even be able to unlock all 3 original Gameboy games to play on the big screen with color graphics! I wouldn't leave GBA out to dry either. I'd port over either the original arcade or the arcade version of Turtles in Time and call it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Advance. The game would feature four player action as well as 2 player VS ala Turtles in Time. It would also have a little bit of unlockable content. |
They could just redo graphics and have the New Shredder The Black Baxter, the Black Foot Ninjas and the new April. Than they could have a option to switch between the old cartoon and new cartoon graphics.
|
If you guys REALLY want them, send e-mails to Konami's costomer support and mention to them with the new show how well these would sell... also be sure to include how cheap it is to port existing games on to a new system ;).
|
yeah and that would give them a good reason to release the old toon
|
I think if they ported any of them, it would be Turtles in Time. Most of the games that have been ported so far have been SNES games. The only NES ports have been the NES Mario games and Kirby's Adventure (now called Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland). And since I don't think we could get more than one TMNT port, I would definately choose Turtles in Time. I love that game!
|
They could port the arcade version, there has been quite a few arcade conversions on GBA already.
|
I have pondered this possibility before. In fact, I think Wizard Mag mentioned it once as well.
Seems everyone forgot about Tournament Fighters... DrSpengler wrote: Quote:
I think I said this before, but it is possible to play many of these games using various emulators on Dreamcast, Xbox, and Gameboy Advance. |
