How Old is Too Old for a Stroller?

I ask this because, I swear, I saw a kid riding a stroller who must have been sprouting hair in places besides his head.

I'd like parents to answer this, but childless people like me are welcome to weigh in.

I'd guess around 4ish? It would be a pain to lug a stroller around everywhere no matter how much it would relieve the tootsies of your precious snowflake. Although maybe the kid had a medical condition?

No apparent medical condition. Strapping young lad.

How large was the kid and the stroller?

did you snap a picture of this kid with your cell phone for us to see?

I have a 3 year old almost 4. We pretty much retired using the stroller on a regular basis by the spring of this year. We do still pull it put on occasions such as long walks or hikes. But for events such as going to the mall we generally make him walk. I've seen it too where there seem to be kids that are waay too old to be in a stroller. But that doesn't bother me nearly as much as seeing 4 year olds or even 3 year old walking around with a pacifier. Seriously, if the kid can pull the thing out of their mouth on their own and then proceed to speak full sentences, they're def too old to be sucking on those things.

I'd say as soon as they learn to walk, you should retire the stroller. And I agree about pacifiers as well. They should get rid of those at either a year old or at least two when they learn to talk.

Just because you couldn't see a physical impairment doesn't mean there wasn't one there.

Exactly what i was thinking.

True, but in most cases you'd think they'd have transitioned from a stroller to a motorized or even a standard wheelchair....then again, has Blondie even given us an estimated age aside from the hyperbolic bit about "sprouting hair in places besides his head."

Dirty Blond 12-07-2012 12:42 AM

He looked to be 8 years-old, which of course is too young for puberty, but I did imply that in my first post, so I'm sorry about that.

zkarlette 12-07-2012 12:45 AM

You made it sound like he was a teenager or something... Anyways I think 8 is way to old for a stroller.

I was imagining a 20-something year old guy sitting in a stroller

Around the time the child stops wearing diapers, is forced inside the playpen, sleeps in a crib, and stops laying in a safety seat inside the car, which is sometime when they're three years old, four at the oldest. Of course the wheelchair is the grown-up version of the stroller.

Not if the occupant can move himself or herself in it, either by hand or by electric power.
