Will Arnett Joins Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Not sure if someone already post this already.
http://www.superherohype.com/news/ar...-ninja-turtles "Arrested Development" and "Up All Night" star Will Arnett has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming live-action/CG hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. Arnett's role is currently being kept a secret, but he joins Megan Fox in the role of April O'Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo. This is the second big upcoming comic book-inspired role for Arnett. He's also set to voice Batman in The LEGO Movie. To be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film features a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum, Andrew Nemec, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and John Fusco, based on the characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is targeting a June 6, 2014 release. |
Wow, this is the first good thing I've heard about the movie in a loooong time. I love Arnett, Arrested Development is one of my all time favorite tv shows.
When I clicked on this thread I was expecting it to be about the Nick show (I know, i didn't look at the category) because the voice actor for April on the Nick toon played Ann, a recurring character on Arrested development. With the filming of a new season of Arrested underway, I figured she may have turned him onto the Turtles. |
Here's the original Hollywood Reporter article:

I can't really remember much of the leaked script. Is there any other role he could be playing? |
He'll play Vernon.
|
$5 says he's Colonel Shraeder.
|
I'm guessing he's playing April's over the top wacky boss. But I rather wait and see a trailer or at least a story outline before making a judgement on the movie. After all it seems the Teenage Mutant part of the title is back.

This is the first piece of news that has actually worried me.
NOW I can easily imagine some classic 'Bay Humor' getting in. It's kind of a thing to cast some unfunny actor and just plop him into an action movie so he can do quirky things. Atleast it's not Ken Jeong. |

But I'd rather him serve that purpose than to play some goofy, bumbling Schrader... |
I like Arnett, but he's really not the type I would have pegged for this movie. But I suppose anything's possible since the Megan Fox announcement.
|
this is good news, at least he'll be there to make some funny.
initially, i woulda been weary about casting him in this, but since the flick's ass up anyway... and stryker...you're an ass most of the time, but you're also usually on point. you being in the pro-fox camp and saying THIS worries you... check your head, bruh. |
great news!!
the dude is funny as hell and would be a perfect match for Vernon! *fingers crossed* he is not colonel schrader! lol |
Maybe Shredder in this movie will be comedic? *shudder*
|
interesting casting choice
|
I have this horrible feeling in the back of my mind that he's going to be the Shredder.
Shudders in horrible denial* |
Pretty much whoever wins the "Who is he playing in the movie?" quandry... we all lose.
|
A non-Japanese Shredder with alien Turtles makes me think they're purposely going out of their way to make the worst Turtles movie possible.

Lame comedy though? That always stops these kinds of movies in their tracks. I thought Transformers 3 was alright but the Ken Jeong stuff in the beginning was absolutely awful. Same thing with the weed brownie scene in Transformers 2. It's like it takes a detour from stupid action-town into awkward stupid comedy-town and it doesn't leave for like 20 minutes. |
My guess: Krang.

The only win I see in this movie is another chapter in the storied Turtles history. Will Arnett is a casting dice roll by Bay and Co. Mr De Niro does NOT approve http://i1155.photobucket.com/albums/...pse5068915.jpg These guys... these f$&!@#$ guys come in here and $%&%* wit' the Turtles? |
