Season 2 will feature Mutagen Man, Eighties Turtles

The second season of TMNT will feature a one-hour special with special cameos by the original voice actors from the 1987 cartoon in their old roles, including Cam Clarke (Leonardo), Townsend Coleman (Michelangelo), Barry Gordon (Donatello) and Paulsen (Raphael).

It'll be a story point, too, that brings classic and current Turtles together.

The toy version of the oozy baddie Mutagen Man was always a favorite of Nieli's, he says. "All of us have one sitting on our desks and it's just a matter of time: 'Well, when are we going to do Mutagen Man?'

"It was just important to figure out a special way to do it so that he didn't just show up like, OK, monster of the week is Mutagen Man. We definitely wanted to have a little bit more of an investment in him as an integral character in that universe and ultimately the responsibility of the Turtles as heroes."

Mutagen Man, who plays a big role in the second season but will appear near the end of the first, had a distinctive look from the old '80s cartoon and toy, and the TMNT producers didn't want to get too wacky with a new design.

Well, I guess now we know which classic mutant that one writer was hinting at. Interesting to see Mutagen Man. Looking forward to what they do with him.

Also, another 80's Turtles/Modern Turtles team-up with the VAs on board this time?! Count me in! :D

The anticipation is killing me!!! I can't wait!!! :thyper:

Is it weird that everything that I hear about this show sounds great whereas everything I hear about the movie makes me want to be sick in my mouth.

I would have predicted that when Nick first bought the franchise.

good news, indeed

MrTMNT2012 04-03-2013 09:55 AM

And here I was thinking the show couldn't get any better....:D Loved this news!

CyberCubed 04-03-2013 09:57 AM

Is this going to be an actual crossover though or is it just the voices playing new roles?

Darth Knuckles 04-03-2013 10:00 AM

Wow this is great news! I thought it may never be as cool as Turtles Forever but this sounds like it definitely could be. All of the original cast voicing their turtles again! Freakin' awesome! The Baxter Stockman and Mutagen Man stuff sounds neat too but the original cartoon turtles should be epic. They'll probably have a really funny moment with Original Cartoon Raph and Nick Toon Donatello! :tgrin:

CyberCubed 04-03-2013 10:02 AM

All they have to do now is announce the return of Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady and I would quite literally burst into tears.

2014 is ninja turtles 30th anniversary, which the second season coincides
the 80's turtles appears in season 2

my god

Season 2 will be a Ultraman Mebius/Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger anniversary

well, I'm good with that...as long as it doesn't end like Digimon Xros Hunters did...that was a terrible anniversary

at least hoping for 2003 and Prime to make cameos

BabyTurtles 04-03-2013 10:17 AM

am I the only one that saw the clip to the next episode XD?

about the 80's turtles....are they gonna be turtles also? or are they just using their voices? o_o

TheCanadiandrome 04-03-2013 10:18 AM

Wow awesomeness for sure

The people in charge of the new show obviously have a great amount of fondness for all aspects of the TMNT, which definitely shows in the final product. I have friends - grown men in their 30s - who haven't watched anything with a Turtle in it since we were in middle school but who are huge fans of this new show. I think it's because of the love that goes into it. Much more so than ever went into the 4Kids show, I think.

No love went into the 4kids show? The series was basically Peter Laird's baby.

This is awesome news! I'm super excited to see what they come up with for the reunion. I'm interested in seeing how they plan to animate it (CG OT Turtles, 2D Nick Turtles, or...?). Briefly wondered if someone in the Nick show would have seen the Turtles and made a cartoon based off of them, but it sounds like they might actually interact with each other.

LOL Ditto.

NinjaMan 04-03-2013 10:52 AM

This show is just too epic. This crew is awesome!

Niiiice!! The original VA's voicing the turtles!! A proper 30th anniversary special compared to the 25th anniversary. :D

Dirty Blond 04-03-2013 11:33 AM

What will Nickelodeon Don say to OT Raphael?

Jester, get in here, man; it's a Rob Paulsen dream come true!

I like the Nick show but lets not get carried away here.

The show has come out at the right time were nostalgia of the property is at its peak as well as a time were vastly different versions of proprerties are more accepted and promoted by internet blog culture has boomed catering to fanboys of a certain era.

It really has little to do with how much "love" goes into the shows. Especialy as at the head of Mirage was someone who cared regardless of whether you agreed with him. Pretty sure the heads of Viacom would do whatever they feel will make them more mula.
