Michael Bay Says "We're Not" Making The Turtles Aliens & That Its "The Ooze"

Well, now I don't know what to think. Michael Bay was interviewed by Movie Fone.com about his new film, Pain & Gain, and obviously he was asked about TMNT. This is what he said:

Quote:

There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We’re not. It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great. But I’m getting away from your question. Your question was...

I still think someone is telling porkies, but I can't work out who.

BubblyShell22 04-26-2013 02:35 PM

Okay, so basically, it's what most of us thought in the first place. Good to know.

jenna 04-26-2013 02:51 PM

Ooooh interesting. This helps. :D

BabyTurtles 04-26-2013 02:59 PM

really? :o so they were never gonna be aliens? or they changed it?

XD

If this is true it makes me feel a little better. But there were still other major problems with the script, mainly Col. Schrader.

ugh this is confusing, because he still hasn't confirmed that the "interdimensional" angle (which TECHNICALLY would mean "not alien", i guess) was overhauled. its really semantics at this point, between "interdimensional" and "alien" and if it still goes the way of the leaked script, then not being "aliens" doesn't mean anything to different to me, regarding how far it is from the original material.

Fans won't be calm until the guy straight up reads the script to them just to put their minds at ease.

in the original script that leaked, the turtles came from a planet full of "mutant and/or alien turtles" the 4 ninja turtles we know were sent to earth to prepare to save the mutant animal planet one day.

the potential issue is that they COULD stick with that story line and just say that the turtles were mutated on the other planet. so they ARE mutants... from another planet, lol. but I dont think thats the case. i think they wrote the whole other dimension thing out of the story line.

Now he better confirm Shredder is Japanese and not Will Arnett.

Hate to say "I told you so", but.....

Just like that, the doubters have been silenced - for about a nano-second I'm sure. C'mon guys, what are we going to $%#*@ about next?? :tgrin:

He said it's from the source material - what else do you really need at this point? Do yourself a favor, relax - enjoy the ride.

Tazi 04-26-2013 03:47 PM

If I remember correctly, Bay already confirmed that, they dropped the previous script.
The problem is, I still can't trush Platinum Dunes about this movie...

God help us if Michelangelo is Olive Green and not Lime Green.

CyberCubed 04-26-2013 04:07 PM

I am concerned that there is no Japanese actor casted for the obvious role of Shredder.

A white Caucasian Shredder is the worst thing imaginable.

LOL

Even then, it would be accurate to the Playmates figures put out over the years. Next?? :tlol:

Your endless complaining about things that haven't even yet come to pass is the worst thing imaginable. :trolleye:

Cool to have confirmation, I guess, but this is what I assumed from square one -- The guy misspoke, referring to the longtime alien origin of the ooze, and people blew it out of proportion.

Zulithe 04-26-2013 04:33 PM

Glad that he cleared that up. Info is slowly leaking out, soon we'll be wallowing in all kinds of details, images and videos.

I know there will be some things about it they change or that I do not like, but I'm keeping my mind open and my expectations in check... that is the key to enjoying any adaptation.

Even if the film is total garage from a story POV as long as the designs look great and we can get some cool action figures (and maybe the very first TMNT Hot Toys? That would be a dream come true)

The Stryker 04-26-2013 04:48 PM

Know what? Michael Bay?

Cast The Rock as Shredder. That would be amazing. No joke.

CyberCubed 04-26-2013 05:41 PM

I am really worried that Will Arnett is Shredder.

Please god no.

Welmanshire 04-26-2013 05:59 PM

Good news. I'm glad some of the haters will be able to calm themselves now.
