New 8 Bit Online Game: Donnie Saves A Princess
|
Donny Saves a Princess
Donatello chases Princess April across three classic 8-bit genres!
It's a fun little distraction, at least... http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps738a1f43.jpg http://www.nick.com/games/teenage-mu...xid=newsletter http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps6d6c2cf2.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psf3de1581.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps19bec8af.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psae5d4bc1.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...psf2defb13.jpg I love Nick Donny, but his fantasies do kinda creep me out at times! |
Man, I can't believe you got this up before me by 8 minutes while I was busy taking screencaps:

Heh, the game is a mix of Zelda and Mario.
|
I can't believe how they ripped off Mario and Zelda in the first two levels.

This has got to be one of the coolest games on the TMNT site right now, it goes through 3 different levels, all with bosses and awesome "princesses" at the end  The Legend of Zelda level with Kraang (prime?) boss fight Super Mario Bros. level with Fishface boss fight Star Wars/Turtles arcade games level with Shredder boss fight (complete with a cameo of the technodrome and the line "Tonight I dine on turtle soup" |

One thing I appreciate about the Nick show is that it's made by people who grew up playing the 8 and 16 bit stuff and intentionally pays tribute to the past. The 4Kids show was made by middle-age adults who simply modeled the video games in the episodes after whatever was a current trend in the gaming world. Those guys didn't necessarily grow up loving and playing the stuff, but simply were trying to appeal to what modern day kids would be familiar with. All the video game references I've seen in the Nick show are clearly a product of the stuff the creators loved in the their youth. |

Anyway, I'll just post these Princess pics here since our threads should be merged sometime in the near future: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps7e4f0962.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps166d63e4.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps8ebc320f.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps50a289b2.jpg And I was really excited to see the old Technodrome showing up too: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a56...ps884b8c9e.jpg |
Next time you should make the thread as soon as you see something thread worthy and provide something small, like a link, and then put the screen shots in after, to make sure your the first to have a thread about the subject ;)

I'd never survive as a news reporter in the instant-social-media age. |

But then again, I've always loved the classic Toadstool look with the bright white dress. |

I keep getting stuck on Fishface level. Anyone know how to beat him? |

One of the most entertaining internet games I've played in a while. I had fun. :tsmile:
|
soooo did he ever save April? XD
|
Man, I suck at timing my jumps in the Super Donnie-o-Tello level...and I'm using Joy2Key.
|
Gotta nitpick.
This game isn't 8-bit. It kinda bothers me when people see pixel art and say 8-bit. Pet peeve. |
Oh man, this game is awesome. I hope what we get on 3DS is akin to this. An e-shop title with 16 bit graphics would be great. I love how it changed styles each time, how fun.
