What if TMNT was an Anime?
After watching the Marvel Anime series (X-Men, Wolverine, Iron-Man and Blade)
I had an idea in regards to TMNT. What if they were in anime in a similar style to that? Who would do their voices and what story line would they have? Personally I think the IDW comic series would be perfect for their anime story line but they have all the right elements for them to be an anime. So fellow Anime lovers who do you think would do the voices and what company should produce it? |
It would probably be terrible, like most toyetic anime. April would also have a number of fanservice scenes, even the 16 year old version from the Nicktoon. Already the anime fandom has caught wind of this new April and are calling her, "loli April."
Damn anime fans have to ruin everything. |
It probably wouldn't be so bad, and who says April had to be fan service? The anime could be serious, dark and gritty like Rurouni Kenshin is.

It already was.

Not like that though... I mean a serious legit one. The IDW storyline would make an awesome template

You're generalizing, stop being so God damned stupid. Most people in the actual 'anime community' don't even watch TMNT. & people of all ages and backgrounds make rule 34 of EVERYTHING, why should that come as a surprise?

Plus April wouldn't be 16 in this anime of it was real

When Anime is done with a serious hand and clever writing it can be fantastic.
Of course there's a lot of junk out there as well, just as in American media. No need to get up-in-arms about it. I am a fan of Manga & anime. I have seen some wonderful anime, where the animation is rendered beautifully and the themes are just as adult as any well written science fiction/action movie with a decent and thought-provoking plot. I've just started getting into Bleach and it's very good.(both the Manga and the anime version) I would love to see something dark and gritty done. The IDW story line would make a seriously awesome anime. Especially the flashbacks to feudal Japan when Yoshi looses his wife and then his children... |

Most people I know are divided. Either they like anime or they like US stuff, but not both. And the ones that like both like stuff like Batman and the Avengers not TMNT. |

"I'm Cybercubed. I only post in generalizations because to do otherwise would require actual thought."
Seriously, using the same logic Sentai fans should have eaten up Next Mutation....I mean it only makes "sense." |

So, is the question here whether you'd like to see a TMNT anime (in which case the answer is no, and we already have it in the form of ultimate hyperbole with the Mutant Turtles episodes), or whether you'd like to see a Turtles show that doesn't have to censor itself, which, with industries as they are, is really only possible with Japanese cartoons? If that's the case, the answer is yes.

Plus Steven Blum (known as Spike in Cowboy Bebop) would make an awesome voice for Raphael

I'm not even going to dignify the 'all anime fans are underage girl hungry' insinuation cuz it doesn't even merit a response...
As a big anime fan myself, I've long thought there'd be some really cool stuff they could do with TMNT in anime form. Anime, in general anyway, gets more attention to detail in it's animation than US animation does, so right off the bat the show would probably look fabulous. And then there's the content thing - like Cipher said, anime is pretty much the only way animation can get away with the kind of action and violence that would be required of a real adaptation of one of the comics, so anyone wanting to see a really faithful adaptation of the Mirage material for example - the only way you'd get it would be something like this though. That said though, it's risky. Mutant Turtles as an example aside, the Marvel anime that were brought up earlier were pretty...hit or miss. The Wolverine one had pretty hideous designs for the lead character and a poor story (at least it's resolution anyway); the X-Men one was meh; Iron Man was a little better but had questionable CGI. The Blade one was the best of the four I think, and while really enjoyable, still wasn't anything to write home about. So it'd all depend on who was put in charge of it, what kind of work they wanted to do, and all that. The possibilities of a good TMNT anime are high...but there's also the chance it'd turn out pretty bad as well. I'd love to see it happen and see where it all went though. |

Chances are it'd be Madhouse if anything, the ones doing the Marvel anime. |
