Episode Airdates
When I check out Wikipedia airdates, the 1987 show had fixed airdates (each Friday or whatever for a period, usually September-December). The 2003 and 2012 shows don't have that, it's first some episodes, then some weeks break, then some more weeks with episodes, then break. Why?

If you check out other cartoons from the 1980s and early 1990s on Wikipedia, it seems that most cartoons show their new episodes during September-December. This is guessing on my part, but the reason I think they wanted to release a cluster of new episodes is to immediately capture the attention of children for merchandising profit for the December holiday season.
With the 2K3 and 2012 versions, it seems that they are spreading the episdoes throughout a typical TV show's season (September-May). I don't know the exact reason as to why most cartoons have gone to the traditional TV schedule, but I'm pretty sure that the internet (kids can now easily check out TV listings online rather than in the past, depending on their parent's TV guide or randomly hoping for a new episode; also the shows could be viewed online during their airings) and the Children's Television Act probably influenced this new airing schedule. |
Not sure...but I've always thought it was cool the the 2k3 show premiered on my b-day (Feb 8th) and the 2k12 show premiered on my daughter's b-day (Sept 29th) :tcool:

Can't wait till the episodes are translated to german. I like the new series. It's kind of charming.

First it was said that would air today (1 June 2013). The idea of moving episode airdates all the time kills of fandom.

They clearly can't air every week of the year, so show most of the episodes during winter when everyone's indoors watching tv and then the remaining say, quarter, stagger it out through spring and summer so it's still popping into the childs' conscious.
I mean, the speed of at which the media works now, if it's not constantly there, the kids forget and move onto the next big thing. I also think it has something to do with the animators and writers. Initially they only have the one series. Then as it gains popularity, second and third series are commissioned that have to be made in quick response. So staggering the episodes is probably also to give them time to actually make the series. So it can then air without there being too long a gap between season 1 and 2. |

They are supposed to air the latest episode of the new TMNT this weekend. But for some reason the guide doesn't list it and its only repeats.
