City Fall Discussion Thread

With 22 coming out yesterday thought I'd make a thread were we could collectively talk about the arc. Issue 22 was crazy awesome, every page was gorgeous, Santolouco has a great grasp on dynamic action scenes and his design of the turtles is my favorite by far, he really highlights their individuality physically and personality wise and the scaled down size is cool IMO. I'm glad to see the return of Angel. Cant wait to see more interaction between her and April. Its also really dope how Splinter accompanies them on certain missions like the one in this issue. So what did you guys & gal's think?

HOw long is City of Fall arc suppose to be????
Any way I still think Kitsune is going to put Leo under a spell or alter his memories.
Casey probably will survive, its a given.
I also wonder if Rocksteady and Beebop will make an appearence??

I think it last 22-26. I was thinking the same thing with Kitsune, cuz there is no way Leo would go evil willingly.

So they said they have been hinting towards this shift in loyalty for a while now what where those hints. I think their going to wait for this series to be over to introduce Rocksteady and BeeBop. Once I saw they had to kidnapp him to get him to go with them I knew he was going to be brain washed in some fashion.

You mean CIty Fall arch?????? I am just a little surprised they teased us with them in the Raph Micro and then not show or here word of them sense.

Issues 22-26? I wonder how they're gonna collect it. It's only a five-issue arc, but that still leaves out lonely ol' 21.

I apologize if the knowledge of future collections is common.

It's a 7-parter.

21-24 in one trade. 25-28 in the next.

I didn't know it extended through 28!!!! That's awesome news:tgrin:

Thats because as drastic as this series is going to be for the turtles they will eventually prevail and thats when Shredders going to have to advance his tactics with more mutegen trials ie Rocksteady and Beebop

So I finally bought all the issues and all the mini-series leading up to City Fall, and just a few moments ago I finished reading issue #22 and all I can say is: Wow... Astonishing :D

City Fall has the potential to become not just one of my favourite Turtles Story, but just one of my favourite Story Arcs in any media.

I love the banter between the turtles, the art by Mateus Santolouco is breathtaking, the stories are very original/inspired and well paced, all the little references to real Ninjutsu techniques make me fangasm, the characters are incredibly developed and the writing is focused and flawless.

I have never given any series such high praise, but I believe IDW really deserves this as I was left genuinely thunderstruck by that 'one event' that happens in Issue 22!
And this is just the first part, what a way to start!

"City Fall: Part 1" (9.8/10) :)

I thought Part 1 rocked! My first issue of the IDW comic and I'm very excited to see where the story goes. :tgrin:

ctt4lfecw 05-31-2013 11:14 PM

Amazing stuff. Best issue so far.

blue_angel99 06-01-2013 02:42 AM

Enjoyed Part one greatly!

Spoiler:
Angel!!!:tgrin: Will the Purple Dragons become permanent allies of the turtles? Hope so. I was really impressed by Shredders plan on capturing Leo.

sawcesome 06-01-2013 03:40 AM

Gah. Times like this I kinda hate being a trade-waiter. I was so close to buying #22 when I was in my LCS the other day.

Red Robin 06-01-2013 05:19 AM

The first issue of City Fall was pretty awesome. I hope they can keep the level.

Buffy 06-01-2013 09:25 AM

Spoiler:
Maybe to save Casey's life, Leo strikes a deal with Shredder: Casey's life for Leo's servitude. They used this storyline in the 3rd season of the vampire diaries. And in the process, Leo might even get to like this life on the dark side.

Spoiler:
I don't see how Casey's life is really in Shredder's hands now. Its up to modern medicine and time. I'm curious to see how and why Leo turns but that will not be the reason.

PS: Wrapping everything in a spoiler tag on this thread should get interesting.

Tazi 06-01-2013 10:39 AM

Anyone's up for some more predictions?

Spoiler:

#23 with lots of different artists involved, there must be a lof of flashbacks in it, I have two guesses. 1.) Casey is about to die (but he probably be saved just in time) and in his mortal agony, he has a flashback about his life, which is mostly a recap of what happened in the idw series so far. It would make sense, since the creators stated that they want City Fall not just as a big story, but as a jump-in point for new readers. 2.) Similar flashback sequence, but with Leo. Someone wrote as a speculation, that Kitsune might erease or change his memories. That would also make sense, but what would be even cooler, if Kitsune would just restore Leo's memories from his old life, which ones would lead to a change of heart for him, instead of Kitsune enchanting him or mindcontrolling. I had this idea before, that Kitsune might be Tang Shen, which is bull****, I admit, but this whole heel-turn for Leo is pretty likely have something to do with his mother. Maybe he will blame Splinter for her death? Or maybe he will blame him for saving Casey, and leaving his own son alone for Shredder? Also, the training he had with Splinter at the beginning of #22, is might be a foreshadowing of that he joins the Shredder only for a suprise attack in the right moment later.

One more thing I'm really curious about is the "Angel almost died, but saved by Casey" thing. I wonder if that has anything to do with Hun, and the coming debut of him. I think it has! :)

Btw, I wonder if you guys who thought it will be the IDW version of City at War, are you still feel like that, or not? :)

ToxicRevolution 06-01-2013 10:53 AM

Honestly I hope there's no recap of the series via flashbacks. That's great for people just getting into the series, but I want to see the story move along.
