Don't be the Pulveriser, kids!
Maybe I'm just screwy, but when I watched the episodes with the Pulveriser, I got the feeling that the character is at least partly a warning to kids watching the show. Specifically, that they shouldn't try to emulate the TMNT.
The 1st time he shows up: Don't try to be a vigilante! You'll just mess up and either get beaten up or accidentally help the criminals! 2nd time: Don't try to turn yourself into a mutant! It'll hurt and it's virtually impossible that it'll go well. You'll be a freak! Anyone else get a "Don't be that guy" vibe from the Pulveriser? |
No, they probably weren't aiming for that, I didn't get that vibe from him. If anything, he was just a character they needed to turn into Mutagen Man.
|
Hmm, perhaps I missed that because I don't remember Mutagen Man
|
He had a toy and a cartoon appearence, so he's not as memorable as other characters, so I could see why you forgot him.

The Pulverizer's mutation did take away some of the fanciful nature of mutagen. I think when were all kids, or the kids who watch nowadays, and even adult fans would sometimes wish "If I had mutagen I could be a cool mutant like the turtles", and Pulverizers screaming mutation into a disgusting blob help establish some sort of harsh reality when it comes to the unstable nature of mutagen.

Pulverizer reminds me a lot of the "Syndrome" character from Pixar's 'The Incredibles' movie. Except he is way more stupid. But in 'The Incredibles', he actually became the villain and quite a dangerous one at that. I have to wonder if they will end up doing the same thing to Pulverizer? I know nothing of Mutagen Man except that I had an action figure of him when I was a kid, so I don't know if he is a good or bad guy.

Man, now I totally want to see a public service announcement tacked onto the end of each episode, with all the characters in the episode breaking the 4th wall and telling kids about how badly they'll mess their lives up if they try to act like cartoon characters.
|
I think The Pulverizer was more of a parody of a super fan who tries to go out and act like a superhero. Why would they teach kids not to pour mutagen on themselves when mutagen isn't real in the first place? That makes no sense at all.

I didn't get that feeling about Pulverizer...as others have previously stated, I see him as the way to introduce Mutagen Man

I get the feeling Mutagen Man is probably gonna end up as a living lava lamp in Donnie's lab.
|
I hope not. I want to see him be able to take on any form he wants, like the original Mutagen Man.
