Are the Foot even the Foot? 2014 movie.

Looking over the pictures we have of the henchmen for this film (2014) I am starting to think that they may not actually be the Foot. I know it seems to be the first pattern of thought, but I'm not convinced.
The Foot, in the majority of their appearences on the small or silver screen have sported the bug eyed look and the "dragon dogi" with or without the red bandanna. Nickeloden has provided this look in their new toon as well as providing a similar look in Out of the Shadows, which I believe is out later this month. With Nickeloden involved, do you not think they would be assertive about the movie appealing to their audience and being easy for them to swallow?
I'm interested to hear theories from anyone as to who else they could be?

The soldiers are sporting kanji letters on their uniforms, and the Foot was a military unit in the leaked scrapped scrip.

But, it is all speculation for now.

Welmanshire 06-06-2013 05:17 PM

Thanks but I am aware of both of those facts. I understand that the first train of thought does lead to the Foot, I even thought it straight away. It just seems like too far of a jump style wise and now I am more interested by theories of who else they could be.

Candy Kappa 06-06-2013 05:18 PM

could also be disguises.

Welmanshire 06-06-2013 05:25 PM

This is true. I have had that thought. But, why? Surely the traditional dragon dogi is disguise enough?
I know they have some huge sound stages for this film, originally speculated to be for TASM2 but ended up being for TMNT. I really want to know what is going on in them. I feel it would answer a lot of questions.

Thinking they will some way be referred to as the foot squad or unit if they are military, I think the closest they will come to the old style garb is when they are training or something in a sparring situation at there base.

They may just play off the fact that they are indeed foot soldiers for their leader a few times to convey the idea that the movie makers know there were indeed guys called foot soldiers in the fiction.

They have ruined the Foot and Shredder.

Candy Kappa 06-06-2013 05:49 PM

Shredder isn't even cast yet, calm down cubed

Hard to say yet. We don't know enough to judge properly imo.

I really doubt ninjas would dress like ninjas, anymore. I won't assume these guys aren't ninjas, just because they have guns. It would be stupid for criminals not to have guns.

Zany Orange Dude 06-06-2013 05:58 PM

Wow...you raise a good point. I just assumed it was the Foot. It never occurred to me the pics could be of someone else.

Personally I still think they are the Foot, but it will be fun to hear theories.:tsmile:

Candy Kappa 06-06-2013 06:00 PM

But, NINJAS.

Yeah, if Shinobi was real today they would have used proper modern weaponry, they did use explosives like grenades.

but ninjas are always in the black karate Gi with masks and go flippy dippy and swings their awesome totally authentic ninjatos and throws star shaped-only shuriken or NINJAS STARS!

I personally think that the bug eyes look more down to earth than these 300 styled masks they are wearing. I know people were speculating that they were for far shots, for people to look japanese ect. but it certainly looks like they all wear them all the time.
I was only reading some books of Return to New York last night and there were more than a few panels where the Foot use guns. So it's not unheard of.

jestermon 06-06-2013 06:16 PM

Yeah it would be odd if modern ninjas didn't have body armor and the best state of the art weapons if they were either a military unit or privately funded military group.

If the turtles are still supposed to be aliens maybe there unit is used called the foot to "stomp" out the alien threat.

I'm not fussed. Even the Foot in OT carried laser guns, so I won't be surprised if this version is military style.

Too bad for you then. That's the most popular depiction of the turtles.

Move along.
