Ouch! Bad Event At The Hospital!

This is a story we heard from a now-retired coworker. Our factory makes mostly ion chambers, which connect to X-ray generators and read radiation directly to prevent the patient from getting an overdose. The coworker had told us about how he was at a hospital and saw an elderly patient get overexposed to radiation because the x-ray machine used on him was defective. So what happens? The doctor shoots the same man again and again with the machine, causing him to burn.

Unfortunately no word on what happened to the patient or the doctor or the hospital. Just a word of warning when you go to the hospital-never let your guard down for a second!

I may have told this story here in the past. But there are always people who should learn of this sort of thing.

Wow. That's scary. I think that doctor should be fired.

I always say you have to treat your doctor like you are hiring a contractor, because nobody else is going to be more serious about your health than you.

That doctor should have known better, no excuse. I can almost guar-aun-tee there's going to be a malpractice lawsuit. Sheesh, shooting that man with so much radiation... it would lucky if he didn't develop cancer 10-20 years later. It reminds me, of how ignorant people in the past would frivolously use the X-ray for simple shoe-fitting assessments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe-fitting_fluoroscope

...But with the knowledge and regulation we have today...that doctor especially has NO excuse.
