Which shredder was the most incompentent at being a boss

My vote is IDW Shredder

I vote original cartoon Shredder. Very incompetent.

Saying OT Shredder would be too easy. At least he had some charm despite 80s Cartoon Villain Stupidity. I would have to say *shudders* Coming Out of Their Shells Shredder is the worst. The plot to steal the world's music is more lame than stealing cheese danishes. He couldn't organize for anything.

Well... Mirage Shredder was pretty much crap at being a leader, he messed up so bad the Japanese branch of the Foot had to come in and clean up the mess he made from his personal failed vendetta.

Next Mutation Shredder.

Its a toss up between OT shredder and Next Mutation Shredder for me, only if we had a poll :ohwell:

CyberCubed 07-17-2013 05:04 PM

OT Shredder was incompetent but that's why we loved him.

Ryan. 07-17-2013 05:19 PM

The incompetence was part of his charm.

Lord Nightwalker 07-17-2013 05:22 PM

80s' cartoon Shredder. Hands down. Net Mutation Shredder is next in line.

Nameless 07-17-2013 06:37 PM

there were times that OT shredder was very competent. especially his last appearance on the show with krang. Next mutation shredder just sucked.

Well you can't blame him from being dead. He did quite good if he had such a strong following, the elite almost worshiped him.

I don't think this is exactly accurate. Sure, the Japan Foot may not have been all that satisfied with what Saki eventually turned the New York Foot into, but this doesn't necessarily mean that the New York Foot itself wasn't happy with his leadership. In fact, given what Karai says:

Quote:

We should have acted sooner...but in the early days, Saki's loyalty to us was beyond reproach. However, as the New York Foot became more powerful [emphasis mine], the less influence we had on him.
...the suggestion is that Saki was almost too good.

Which isn't to say that there's nothing to criticize: I think it's clear that he did not have plan to ensure continuity should he fall, at least after his second death.

In the end, though, I think it's impossible to say for sure, given that he's absent for most of the Foot's on-panel time. In the end, though, given what we do know about other versions, I would say that Mirage Saki is far from the most incompetent boss.

Coola Yagami 07-18-2013 06:22 PM

The 'mess' that Karai had to clean up wasn't Shredder's fault. it was the Foot fighting for control after he died. I would assume a similar thing would happen to Japan if Karai was killed.

The Big Bad 07-18-2013 09:13 PM

That's the thing, though: I don't think it's too much to expect a boss to have measures in place to prevent their deaths from bringing down the organization.
It's why we have things like vice-presidents and lines of successions and seconds in command.

In an ideal world, the Shredder would have laid down the law regarding just what would happen in the case of his demise. Even if it wasn't foolproof--god knows there's been enough battles over succession throughout history--it would have been the responsible thing to do.

Now, did Mirage Shredder do that? I think it's fairly certain that he didn't, given that the loyalist faction--the Elite Foot--would ostensibly be the group most likely to adhere to his orders, went off and attacked every other group. And I think he should totally be held responsible for that.

But that never happen in the old show. Shredder never had a plot to steal cheese danishes, expect in Leo's nightmare from that one show.

Now sending in killler pizza's OK. Sending in giant mousers, ok, trying to take over the world with a machine that runs low on fuel, and needs a jump start ever time you get it moving? Yes.

Granted he had his lame plans. But he never stole cheese danishes.

MsMarvelDuckie 07-19-2013 03:53 PM

I don't think he's suggesting that OT Shredder ever did that- it was just an example of how lame CooTS Shredder's plan was. And stealing the world's music?!! WTF?! How would someone even DO that?! Unless he had some way of simply making everyone in the world forget music ever existed. Hmmm.... Mass brainwashing/amnesia. It could work, with the right equipment and mental suggestion, perhaps. But just "stealing" it? Um, yeeeaahhh....
