Who cares?

CyberCubed 07-23-2013 12:01 AM

Well it worked in X-men: The Last Stand and in the OT so sure.

This. Also it's "call".

Scientifically-speaking? No. Mutation already doesn't work realistically in TMNT; it's true that exposure to toxins can alter your DNA, but so far as I know, historically it's just in little ways, like giving you cancer. Even if it altered it on such a level that it could change you into a different form, it would take time to change into that form, because DNA is just a blueprint for one's form; other parts of the body like nutrients are responsible for growing and changing. Hence, so long as chemicals can change someone's form instantly in this universe, then any antidote to those chemicals changing them back instantly isn't any more farfetched.

From a plot perspective? If they did that, I'd expect the cure wouldn't get used a lot. I'm certain that if it was used for Splinter, it wouldn't stay in effect, and I think Dogpound and Fishface are also pretty permanent at this point. Lesser characters might get changed back.

What? Mutants actually exist?

Well, I'll be...

BubblyShell22 07-23-2013 08:28 AM

It's a cartoon, and in cartoons logic doesn't usually exist. So, no I wouldn't call it B.S. if a cure was made.

What I mean guys is wouldn't it feel like a cop out if one was made and then everybody could live happily ever after?

I don't know. I've always felt the mutagen's effects were realistic in the sense that a superior alien race created it, it has been reversible to an extent in every universe except Mirage and 4Kids, as far as I can remember.

Bloodsucker kinda reversed Raph's mutation in the River. But the reversal was reversed. And what is the canon status of the River anyway?

make a good sub plot or something

could be a way to introduce a Bishop esque character that wants to rid New York of the mutants that fills the city (since they are the out come of Aliens)

Actually no it didn't. And hopefully I'll never hear of the steaming pile of crap that is that movie again.

Yes, but what the show calls mutants are more accurately known as gene-splices. Real mutation is caused by random glitches in a single organism's DNA, and it affects fetuses more more than the actual individual exposed to a mutagen. For example, there used to be medicines that led to people being born without lower arms and some fingers; I forget what they were, but met one person with that mutation.
