What if it turns out Karai's NOT Miwa?
How would you react if this happened? I would appreciate the writers for subverting an expected plot twist.
|
Why wouldn't Karai be Miwa?, in episode 21 she stated her name was Harmony, which is what Miwa translates to in English.
|
She IS Miwa. There have been quite a few clues already that have stated this. Why would Splinter have a lost daughter if this wasn't the case? Shredder took Miwa, named her Karai, and raised him as her own. Plain and simple.
|
Guys... Miru is not debating whether Karai is Miwa or not - yeah, the writers are making it bleedin' obvious!
He's asking how would we react if Nickelodeon has been stringing us along this whole time, thinking she is Miwa and turns out she isn't - just a lot of coincidences. I know my reaction would be an astounded "WHAT?!?" followed by a "Well played, Nickelodeon, well played". |
They know exactly what they're doing, leading us to think she's miwa, so I thin she is, but if not, I would astounded. But fortunately, there's not really another option at this point, they've led it all up to her being miwa that if she's ends up not being her, it would probably just not be mentioned throughout the entire show
|
It's pretty obvious at this point she is Miwa. The "Wait...you lost your mother?" along with "Harmony" pretty much proves it.
|
I still think it is possible that she's not Miwa, I suppose... but I don't think she'll turn out not to be Miwa. What I'm more interested in is how things will unfold after that's revealed. I love Mutant Ninja Soap Operas!
Edit: The whole "she found out she was really his daughter" is definitely a soap opera element, has it occurred to anyone else that this is an obvious reference to Splinter's love of soap operas in EVERY incarnation of TMNT? |

You probably thought that because you're only 16. It seems like we have a lot of kids here now who JUST got interested in TMNT when the Nick show aired.
No. He mentions his "stories" in the original Mirage series and in IDW too. I'm pretty sure he mentions liking them at SOME point in the Fred Wolf show. I can't remember whether or not he does in the first three movies, but it just seems like he watches a LOT of TV in the Fred Wolf show and the first three movies regardless of WHAT he watches. |
I'm feeling a "Mark of Zorro" vibe here.

Yeah Splinter's weird soap opera obsession has been a long-recurring theme. I always found it hilarious, like Martian Manhunter's random obsession with Oreo cookies. I especially like it because it was the only thing that ever separates Splinter from being a mix between Mr. Miyagi and a fortune cookie, and gives him something resembling a personality.
It's odd that of all things he has an obsession with soap operas but I never really questioned it, just accepted it as a welcome quirk. |
Casey even makes a comment in the IDW series that its weird that Splinter, being a reincarnated ninja assassin from Japan, would watch something so silly... "soap operas are for moms" or something like that :tlol:
|
IMO, It's not "if" she's Miwa, It's how she'll react once she finds out.
|
Well, if it turned out Karai wasn't Miwa, I would be surprised by the twist for sure.
And I don't mind that Splinter likes soap operas. I think it's funny. |

if it turns out Karai isn't Miwa, I'd be very happy. Hate the whole notion of Karai/Miwa despite the obvious hints.
And we are lacking in female characters, it is stupid to merge two into one. |
I doubt they would do that...but it would be a surprise at that. And Splinter loving soaps is hilarious!!

Happy days and jubilations! I would prefer her to be Shredder daughter and Miwa to be separate. They could be adopted/half (or whatever you want to call such relation) sisters to keep the arch enemy raising the daugther plot line that some like.
