What do you hope happens for Mikey next season?

I'll say it again, I hope Mikey gets more development and good moments, he didn't really get much season one :(

What about you guys?

BabyTurtles 08-10-2013 12:38 AM

Honestly I'm kind of hoping that maybe in the back of his mind he'll be thinking about the fact that Leo coming back to save him almost cost Leo his life, and therefore he'll try to take training and whatnot just a bit more seriously.

Not that I want him to dwell on it or anything (Mikey's always gonna be the lighthearted Turtle), but it seems like it'd be a good motivator to kickstart some character development on his end. I like him as he is, but I don't want him to remain completely the same - it's more interesting when characters evolve slowly over time.

I wouldn't say Mikey didn't develop much or had any good moments. Mikey's had a lot of good moments and his character has developed since the beginning. The only thing I see missing, comparing him to his brothers is having positive encouragement for his sensei, Master Splinter. We've seen Donnie, Raph, and Leo have many serious discussions with Master Splinter one on one, but we have not seen Mikey and Master Splinter have a serious talk yet. In fact, Raph in "Old Friend New Enemy" sort of took up the role as Mikey's mentor in the end, encouraging and giving good advice to him.

Mikey's got a lot of things going for him in the next season. I haven't been disappointed with any of the Turtles so far and I'm sure Nickelodeon will do alright.

His strength is his compassion and big heart.

More of that please.

And yeah, more IMPORTANT moments with Splinter. I don't remember any in season 1. Just remembered Splinter tripped him with his tail so Mikey fell, and another time Splinter bitch slapped Mikey when he showed him a comic book.

Splinter is so gentle with Mikey isn't he XD

You make it sound like Splinter hates him :(
Than again, in the final it was like he was telling Leo to go die, so sweet

Him getting Klunk would be nice. I hope the Ice Cream Cat doesn't turn out to be him. (It's creepy.)

BubblyShell22 08-10-2013 08:42 AM

ICK is not Mikey's cat, it's April's and Mikey is just baby-sitting him when he gets into some mutagen.

Retro-Specs 08-10-2013 09:27 AM

Well, since my wife and I are also watching the OT series, I've noticed a lot of episodes focused on the original Michelangelo. These ones tend to have him altered in some way (Turned into a human, shrunk down to a few inches tall, turned into a child) or put him in an odd position (Putting up with Shredder thinking he IS Mikey, having to save all his bros when they are kidnapped).

So, an episode focused on Mikey where something crazy happens to him, or a crazy situation forces him... out of his shell (Sorry). A Donatello invention gone wrong could easily make this sort of episode a reality.

One idea I had - when speculating that Mikey is actually the most skilled and athletic of the four, but his lack of focus keeps it subdued - is to have his IQ/thought patterns altered to where he can best all his brothers, maybe even his sensei - but it goes to his head, thinking he's practically invincible, and he goes out to take on a tough villain on his own.

They may not have pushed too much development on Mikey, but the character has such a great foundation already that they really don't need to. All they need to do it take that personality and apply it.

BubblyShell22 08-10-2013 03:31 PM

I'm sure there will be more development for Mikey in season 2, and I believe Greg Cipes said somewhere that Mikey will grow more, so that's a good thing. I really hope they focus on his compassion and big heart as well as give him more moments where he's not portrayed as being totally dumb such as in "Parasitica" though not that exact situation again.

This, and have him mature a bit.

Donatello19 08-10-2013 04:08 PM

I just want to see him be a bit more serious at times. Not all the time, but when he's fighting and whatnot he shouldn't be cracking jokes/acting silly.

Mikey not acting silly and joking during fight scenes, then it's not Mikey. People I think are taking Mikey's character development for granted.

Mikey's development is based primarily on his humor, I don't need a more serious story to build up the class clown.

Let Mikey be Mikey, let him have his times to shine and be serious when it is crucial (ie: Shredder Fight in "The Gauntlet"), but don't tweak or turn the character into something more serious and be something he's not. Because then you get him winning a Battle Nexus Tournament, and turning into a Narcissistic Creep. Stuff like that makes me terrified to see Mikey's character developed.

Captain PunchYouHard 08-10-2013 04:51 PM

I want to see stone cold badass Mikey, but with the sense of humor.

BabyTurtles 08-10-2013 08:56 PM

ya know I just noticed something......

didn't it seem that the first part of the season treated Mikey better then the last part of the season????

he seemed smarter and more competent in the first episode all the up to "It came from the depths"

not that he didn't have shining moments after that...but he seemed different....

.......no just me? :D

BubblyShell22 08-11-2013 05:13 PM

Actually, I think he became more competent as the season went on, but in the first episode, he definitely acted like he wasn't focused enough. As the season progressed, he became more focused and there was more to him than just his humor as outlined in "It Came From the Depths."

Luckyday 08-11-2013 05:24 PM

I want the writers to dwell on the other parts on his personality like his compassion for others and his sense of creativity.

Captain PunchYouHard 08-11-2013 06:06 PM

On this subject, I saw somewhere that some official bio says Mikey is ADHD and Leo has asthma. Anyone have any idea what "official bios" they're referring to? I don't remember seeing either of those on the Nick site. If it's true, kudos to them for giving kids someone to relate to, although I don't think the asthma thing is terribly realistic.
