TMNT Part 5 moved to August 8th, 2014

They've pushed the date back again.

They're full of it if they consider it part 5

It's the fifth movie, yes. But it certainly isn't the fifth installment in a series, as "part 5" insinuates.

Total vote of no-confidence on the part of the studio. You can tell a lot about how they view their product by when they choose to release it (for example, any horror movie worth anything comes out before Halloween, while any and every horror film released in February is always garbage).

It's smart thinking on their part. TMNT would get MURDERED going against Transformers 4 and the others the article mentions. Plus, since shooting wrapped seemingly so quickly, it would seem that more of it than we thought may be CGI, so it's going to require a lengthy editing and post-production process.

Bottom line, if they really believed they had a blockbuster, they'd release it alongside them, not a month later when they'll have no competition. The movie's bottom line will be better for it, but the move DOES expose that they're still crossing their fingers and hoping for the best with this one.

It's a similar case with Sin City 2, which got pushed back for the sake of having a quality movie. I'm not sure if pushing TMNT 5's date back will result in there being improvements that wouldn't have been made otherwise, though.

If part of the reason for the delay is to make the final product better then that's great. I highly doubt it will be, though.

Leofan26 08-23-2013 01:36 AM

They have a lot of competition that year, makes sense I guess.

Shark_Blade 08-23-2013 01:51 AM

No problem, take all the time they need. :)

What if I told you, it's the sixth movie.

Nickelodeon was calling the BooyakaShowdown a "movie event" in the commercials, too.

so basically, anything longer than 30 minutes=movie

chrisdude 08-25-2013 09:32 PM

I don't make the rules, but they did call it a movie.

CyberCubed 08-25-2013 09:48 PM

Nick calls all their 1-hour live-action shows movies too. Its nothing new.

5th theatrical release...

Ravenxl7 08-25-2013 10:30 PM

Ummm...there's already a thread about this:

http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=44192

Also, it's not "part 5". It's a new continuity all it's own.

Edit: You even posted in that thread... six times... why make a new one if you already knew people were discussing it?

Look at the times the threads were made. He made this thread not knowing there was another one, it's just not been merged or deleted.

Ok, didn't notice when this thread had been made. That said, why hasn't this been deleted/merged yet?
