Why do Xever and Bradford work for Shredder?
Particularly now, as mutants? What do they get out of the deal? It seems like their whole deal is just, "We promise we're going to get the Turtles this time!" to Shredder, they fail, and then Shredder beats them up a little bit and threatens to basically kill them if they fail again, over and over. Why put themselves through that?
I mean, are they getting paid? If they are (and if they are, we've never been told so), what good does money even do them anymore as mutants? It's not like they can go on a shopping spree at Macy's or anything or even blow it on hookers... so what, then? Did Shredder promise he'd de-mutate them if they play ball? What does he have over them, exactly? I see no reason for them to serve the Shredder right now, whatsoever, beyond some kind of blind need for revenge on the Turtles for sh*t that wasn't even the Turtles' fault. But even then, what do they need the Shredder for? |
Well, Xever does it because he feels he owes Shredder a debt for bailing him out of prison and because he likes a job where he gets to crack skulls. I believe Bradford possibly does it out of servitude because he's one of Shredder's top students and wants to serve his master.

where else can they go?? XD no one's gonna hire a mutant fish and dog. |
I doubt shredder would let them live if they chose to leave. This is isnt like the OT where IF bebop and rocksteady quit shredder would be like 'fine! Go! Who needs you!!' This shredder doesn't seen like the kinda guy you can just walk away from. They have no choice.

Fear. They work for Shredder out of fear of him and for what loyalty they have to the clan, Well, in Bradfords' case anyway. Only thing that makes sense to me.

As for the the topic question, they know what the Shredder is capable of, and seeing as they're in his good graces with him and know what he's capable of, they know better than to oppress him. While loyalty has a part in their choice to work for Shredder, their fear for him is what keeps them in line. They could barely take on Splinter, how would they fare against s master with the same level of training that won't think twice about killing his opponent? |
They are working for me because they are afaid of me! They know that i will kill them if they dont follow my orders!

Well.....what else would they do, exactly? They WANT to kill the turtles because they feel it's their fault they got mutated, anyway.
