Frute Brute and Yummy Mummy cereals return!
Ok, ok, I know this is an EXTREMELY random thread...but I have some big news. So, you all know about the monster cereals, right? You know, Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Franken-Berry, the cereals that come out during Halloween. Well, way back when in the 1970's and 80's, there were FIVE monster cereals. The three I mentioned, plus two cereals called "Fruit Brute" (with a Werewolf mascot) and "Yummy Mummy" (with a mummy mascot, of course) these two cereals were nowhere near as popular as the original three, so they were discontinued and were never seem again....until now!

So, do any of you remember eating these way back when? Are you excited for them to return? These cereals will be available this Fall, just in time for Halloween! |
YEA!!!
No seriously I'm more excited about this than I should be.... YEA!!! |

Hey, every Halloween my wife is super excited at the prospect of Boo-Berry and Franken-Berry....this news made her ecstatic. We've always wondered what Yummy Mummy and Frute Brute were like.

Yeah, I'm way too excited about this news. I wish we were getting the original Yummy Mummy box but I'm just excited to see it return.

Just noticed that the boxes describe Frute Brute as a cherry flavored frosted cereal...and Yummy Mummy as an orange cream flavored frosted cereal...both with marshmallows! The cherry flavor sounds delicious, but I'm not too sure on orange cream. I will try both of them, of course! :D |

I do like that they're getting updated designs to fit in with the new designs of the main three too. For nostalgic reasons I wish the older box was an option too. |

I want that cereal. O_O i never heard of it, but I want it. :tsmile:

You know, these could be in stores right now....heck, I'm already seeing Halloween candy in stores so you never know. I'll check the next time I'm in the grocery store. If anyone spots them please tell us!

It's nice to see the monster cereal family returning.
Every Halloween, I get Boo Berry because it's a rare cereal in Texas. Usually can find them @ Target & WalMart. I wouldn't mind a taste of Yummy Mummy orange flavored cereal. But the cheerry flavored Fruit Brute wouldn't work with my taste buds. The last time I disliked a cereal is when GM came out with a grape flavored cereal! |

Now if only a new TMNT cereal was made.... |
Is anyone else gonna buy BOXES of that stuff?

Oh.My.Arceus THIS IS AWESOME! What's next to return? The BK Kids Club Gang? All those Kool-Aid variants? Bucky o'Hare? Funny Face? Don Bluth? |
BK Kids Club is long overdue for a comeback. Wheels may have to stay home, though, as he's no longer politically correct. Unless they gave him an entirely new name. "Ok, so the kid we used to call 'Wheels' is now 'Frank'." "Really? I mean, isn't that kind of... patronizing?" "No, dammit we can't have a kid in a wheelchair named WHEELS, it's insensitive! What's wrong with you?" "Well, can the other kids call him 'Wheels' like a nickname, at least?" "HIS NAME IS 'FRANK', A******, WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! You LIKE making fun of the handicapped?!" "Well, no, I mean... I mean, only in private like everyone else does..."
Uh, yeah, anyway, wow. Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy? I'm half-tempted, because they've never been available in my lifetime, but eh, I'm not sure. Nostalgia doesn't seem like the greatest excuse to willingly inflict diabetes on myself. "Son, your ENTIRE bloodstream has turned to glucose.... what in GOD's name were you thinking?!" "Doc, c'mon... it was YUMMY MUMMY, man! That stuff is rarer than Haley's Comet!" Interesting idea though. Never underestimate the power of an obscure Robot Chicken skit to make something popular again, I guess. |
