Donatello and Foot Soldier Costumes

3 Attachment(s)
Hey, so I am going to DragonCon this weekend. It is my first time so I wanted to dress up to get the full experience. At the beginning of the summer I was looking up costume ideas and was inspired by Jay Anderson's thread.

http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=40209

I set out to make A turtle costume of my own! I am happy to say that it is almost complete and I will be posting pictures of the full costume as soon as I can.

Until then I have a few pics of the costume "in progress"

I didn't stop there however, I wanted to make a Foot Soldier Costume as well. I based it off of the original movie and thankfully know someone who is a great seamstress! I will post pictures of that costume minus the mask next!

As promised, a couple of pictures of the foot soldier costume! I must make a quick shout out to Madogrim, a fellow technodromer, for the awesome work he did on the headband!

Sorry that the second picture is blurry! I will be posting more pictures of both costumes as I can! I wont have the mask back until this weekend, but the turtle costume should be ready today or tomorrow!

Here are a few more photos to show you how far I have come since I took the previous pictures!

The costume should be 100% done tomorrow so I will post the final results when I can.

So far it is looking pretty sweet. The Turtle ensamble looks awesome! The foot costume makes you look like trained professional.

Looking pretty good for both costumes. Can't wait to see the final results.

Thanks everyone! This is the 99% finished costume! I am proud of how it turned out (even though it was by no means perfect!) It was a real learning experience, and I had a lot of fun figuring out how to get around the different obstacles!

Wow. Awesome Don costume. I love it.

Fourcylinder 08-29-2013 10:34 AM

Thank you, very much!

Plasticplayhouse 08-29-2013 10:47 AM

very cool! the only thing i think it needs is a mouth. not sure what kind of expression would work best though. great work, you should be proud :)

Roland 08-29-2013 11:24 AM

That is awesome! You should try a few action shots (a few katas maybe) or maybe a few funny shots (like Donnie got caught red handed with his hand in the cookie jar). I found the 4th picture funny. It looks like Donnie is getting ready for his next shot a the pool table.

I wasn't able to take a lot of pictures cause the costumes made it difficult but these are a few that I was able to grab... I think you will find the last one fun!

It actually has a closed mouth, I modeled it after the Neca figure. I actually went back and sharpied the mouth line, so it didn't blend in so badly.

Thanks, I actually based that 4th picture off of TMNT 2 Secret of the Ooze! I dunno how many more pics I will be posting, The costume took a beating at Dragon*con and needs some touch up work... and frankly I don't feel like working on it for a little while haha.

I will be looking online for more pics from dragon*con cause a lot of people took pictures with me in both costumes, if you guys come across any, let me know!

Shark_Blade 09-03-2013 04:35 AM

I'd recognize Rob Paulsen from a mile. Love the pics. :D

Looks like you had a great time.

BubblyShell22 09-03-2013 07:33 AM

Wow. Those are some awesome pics, and I love the one with you in the Don costume with Rob. That's so cool that you got to take a picture with him. Glad you had fun. Oh, and I also like the Foot shots, too.

Fourcylinder 09-03-2013 08:43 AM

Rob was SO nice! I talked to him Friday night while I was dressed up as the foot ninja and his first reaction was "Oh MAN! You're not here to beat me up, are ya?" We talked a little while about what it was like working with the franchise to the extent that he has and, he let me get a video of him talking as both Raphael and Donatello. When I told him my next costume was Donatello and showed him some pics he was really impressed and told me to make sure to come back the next day so we could get a picture!

When I have the chance I will probably make a new thread with the video I shot of him, cause i think everyone will get a kick out of it!

BubblyShell22 09-03-2013 11:18 AM

Awesome. Can't wait to see that.

Fourcylinder 09-03-2013 12:06 PM

Here is the thread for the video of Rob Paulsen, short but sweet!
