First time watching the series. Aware me on how the turtles are portrayed?

I know it's stupid to watch or not watch a show simply because I don't like how they portray the turtles. But it is what it is...

I'm used to seeing

Leo Lead the way and is the best Ninja Turtle
Raph being the best fighter
Donnie being the smartest. Although not second in command, he's clearly influencing Leo's decisions more than any other turtle
Mickey Goofball..

First of all, Welcome to the drome
Second, It's MIKEY
Amd Third, the portrayals are mostly faithful to the respectful characters.

I only see minor tweeks to the characters overall personalities in the new show. They are still very much the same. They are just younger. I doubt very much that many people want the same thing over and over again. (But to each his own.)

yeah since i read somewhere on one of the forums it said season 2 will have the turtles mature same with the other characters like april but nothing drastic which i'm really interested in.

They're portrayed as teenagers for the first time ever.

BabyTurtles 08-29-2013 01:52 PM

I'd say they all act the way they are supposed to XD

but they feel more like teens in this version (which is a plus)

They're great, just friggin' watch it. Assuming you're not a nostalgia-blind casual, you'll enjoy it.

Or some animation snob.

FlogginMcMurryZombiePizza 08-29-2013 03:43 PM

I really like this version, sure it has it's flaws, but it is a great shows. I like characters though the animation style took some getting used too.

The Turtles act like teenagers this time around, and it's awesome. They still have the same personalities they've always had, but they act younger.

Leo's still a leader, but still makes mistakes and struggles
Donnie is the same genius, just a little more high-strung
Raphs still aggressive, pretty similar to past raphs
mikeys still the goofball, but is portrayed a little dumbed down, but has his moments

Why is anybody so afraid of change?

depends on the change I suppose :)
some change is legitimately bad....
while others is good

but change is scary :D cause you don't know what's going to come from it.
so, more often than not we judge the change negatively before it can happen.

But the thing is when you been with the ninja turtles so long then you should be desperate to have something different. A real change can sometimes improve a series IMO.

especially if you didn't care for something in a previous version.......if it gets improved in a new version that's awesome!

I think teen April is also an improvement
(though I didn't have a problem with young adult April)

different designs for the turtles is another plus.
and I also think their attitudes improved :)

theres a bunch of improvements in the 2012 version XD
so I guess the change was good.

Change is good, as long is it is still "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Giving Mikey an ice cream addiction is a nice quick. Making Raph a 25 year old super model secret agent is taking away the whole point of the turtles.

drgon78 08-30-2013 07:21 AM

I think teen April is an improvement along with actual teenage acting turtles, Splinter as a less old warrior who kicks butt, and Karai's personality.
