1989 Animation Magazine article on the fledging TMNT craze

He guys! I'd like to share my copy of Animation magazine from summer 1989 which featured a six-page feature on the Turtles. My favorite feature is the list of licensees and products which showed how committed the franchise was by this point, pre-daily syndication and pre-movie.

Thanks for posting this, its really interesting to read articles back when people had no idea how big TMNT would become.

Hard to believe the franchise will have its 30th anniversary next year, and we have new cartoons, comics and a new movie coming.

Awesome article. We need more stuff like these...miss those times...

I own that issue (had to overpay for it a little). I love those early issues of Animation Magazine; they're so informative!

I do wish this particular issue had focused more upon the creation of the actual cartoon show and a little less on the marketing tie-in aspect of the franchise. When I bought it, I was hoping we might get to see some concept art, character models, or storyboards.

Awesome post! Thanks so much for sharing... *wipes away tear, nostalgically gaze into the distance* :tsmile:

LOL!

Thanks for sharing this! What a great read...brings me back...

Great read! Thanks for sharing!

Ditto everyone else - thanks so much for sharing! It was a really fun read. It was publishing right around the time I was getting into the Turtles.

good article. Excellent find.
