Will mutated Baxter be able to talk?

One thing that bothers me is half the Nick mutants can't even speak. They're treated like mindless monsters rather than actual characters. My big fear now is that fly-Baxter will be another mindless beast, unlike the semi-coherent mutated fly-man he was in the original toon.

Baxter Stockman is a pivotal character in TMNT lore, he was able to speak as a fly in the original cartoon, and it would make his character much more interesting if he can talk.

I really hope Baxter is like Dogpound/Fishface/Spiderbitez rather than like Kirby-bat, Cockroach Terminator, and the others.

Donatello19 10-13-2013 06:54 PM

I'm sure they'll make him talk, especially since he's a well known TMNT character.

I mean, they let him keep his sweater, so I would think speech is likely to stay

Shark_Blade 10-13-2013 07:19 PM

With that afro still in tact, for sho he can talk.

snake 10-13-2013 07:26 PM

I hope so.

Luigiperps 10-13-2013 07:38 PM

He better do some sciencey stuff as a fly!

CyberCubed 10-13-2013 08:30 PM

I was thinking about the voice actor too, but then again the voice actor who is playing Kirby won't be able to do any more lines for the character until he's demutated...if that ever happens.

They probably want the voice actor to play Baxter too, so I hope he can talk.

ToTheNines 10-13-2013 08:55 PM

**** you Scott.

Gin Rummy 10-14-2013 12:36 AM

I certainly hope so. I'd be totally bummed if he turns out Mute.

BabyTurtles 10-14-2013 12:54 AM

I'm sure he will XD who else is gonna shout DOOM!!

JH24 10-14-2013 03:32 AM

I certainly hope so, personally I find it already bad enough they had to turn him into a fly.

blindturtle02 10-14-2013 06:04 AM

Oh yeah, I'm sure he'll be able to talk. I'm thinking most of the mutants besides Kirby Bat and the squirrelinoids will probably be able to.

drgon78 10-14-2013 06:10 AM

It would stupid of them not to let him still talk.

Could it be something like different mutagen recipes? Every mutant after Spyroach seemed to lack speech capability (Mutagen Man, Newtralizer, Mutant wasp, Kirby-Bat).

Pizzaface, TigerClaw, and Newtralizer will all talk.

We can be sure BaxterFly will talk, if only for the sole reason because BaxterFly talked in the Fred Wolf show.

Pretty much bullsh*t though... if you become a mutant bat you lose your mind, but not if you become a mutant fly?

drgon78 10-14-2013 12:21 PM

Well the turtles were just turtles and they can talk. They have said that the mutagen is unpredictable in our dimension, though I still wonder how it works in dimension X.

Basically if the writers want the mutant to talk, they talk, if they don't they're mindless.

Yeah it doesn't make sense but since the target audience is 6 years old I doubt they care to explain the difference.

Jester 10-14-2013 03:46 PM

Maybe it's trauma of the mutation?

Then again, didn't they say that the mutagen's Dimension X origins left it unstable in out dimension and thus it had different reactions...i.e. it's a huge MacGuffin.

Even though 4 out of 4 Turtles mutated exactly the same way. 4 out of 4 seems like a pretty good, stable ratio to me.
