Carrie remake
The original Carrie is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time. And seeing as though Hollywood remakes are generally crap, and the fact they shot and added scenes in after underwhelming screenings, my expectations for this was very low.
So imagine my surprise when I left the theatre pretty satisfied with what I'd just seen. Happy, even! Won't replace the original by any means, but I like this version on its own merits. Wish they played down the "X-Men discovering their superpower" thing a bit more but hey. |
I always thought the original "Carrie" was a bit overrated - though not at all bad - so I had no problem with them remaking it, in this rare case. I also think Chloe Moretz is a pretty good actress so I'm looking forward to seeing her take on it. I might see it this weekend, I'm not sure.

I think the only thing I have against the original is it reeeeeally felt like a 45 minute move that they pushed into 90. But its also the simplicity of the story that makes it so charming and appealing.

I never liked any of the other carrie stuff (movies, tv show or book) so I doubt I will like this

Getting ready to see this movie this coming friday. I actually wasnt a big fan of the original. And to see an actual teen play the part would be nice. Hope its good

Anyone see this new remake mini-series? Apparently some other girl possesses her in time for her to do the climactic final killings? I read that and I couldn't believe it.

I always feel bad for Carrie in the original 1970's movie. Sure she kills everyone in the school dance, but her mother abused her and tormented her whole life, she kills everyone even the people who didn't bully her (including the teacher who defended her in the movie and befriended her), and then after her mother stabs her, she just goes to Hell with her mother pulling the whole house underground. So Carrie gets no justice...she just dies with everyone.

It apparently came out directly to dvd/vhs in Italy in 2000. |

The original is one of my top horror, favourite movies I really liked this remake, and I liked the world that they are opening up. It was very enjoyable, and I thought the entire cast did a really good job. My wife enjoyed it a lot too. Even if you aren’t a fan of horror type stuff it is still a very fun watch. |

Ya which is totally fair. I haven’t seen it in a long time. In today’s me too movement maybe it makes more sense and holds up more. I forgot it was her half sister. Been so long since I have seen it. I’ll give it a watch again this weekend. It just seemed like a poor sequel at the time to an iconic movie, but maybe it’s better than I remember lol That is excellent news. They can do a lot with this world with all the super powers. My super power is I can eat a lot. Hoping I can get in the sequel somehow. Maybe Carries obese boyfriend or something |

I guess they are opening up the world of the other girls that have other powers and now it will be a manhunt to find Carrie. It’s almost like it’s turning into a superhero movie or something like that. I really enjoyed the first season, but I am not quite sure how the second season will be. The group at the very end of the season is likely trying to find Carrie and the other girls and it will probably follow that storyline I guess. Interesting. Guess we will see |
