Is there any hope of Usagi Yojimbo appearing in this show at all?

For example the only reason Usagi showed up in the original cartoon and 4kids was because Peter Laird is close friends with Stan Sakai and he agreed to let them use him for a few episodes. However with PL not having anything to do with the Nick show I wonder if Stan Sakai would agree to it.

I think I recall Ciro saying he would like to have Usagi appear but I don't know if it'll happen. The earliest could be Season 3 but even then its a long shot.

I just hope he isn't downplayed... or his seriousness doesn't clash too drastically with these younger goofier turtles. Maybe a teenage Usagi to bond with the sillier teenage Leo?

Shark_Blade 02-19-2014 11:13 PM

Let's all persuade him on his facebook. And Stan Sakai too.

I'm sure Usagi would be written the same as always. It's not like Fred Wolf Usagi was all that goofy. He was a little naive in that show, but considering he was in a futuristic 80's world (compared to feudal Japan for him) it made sense.

True, but handled poorly and he's gonna seem like a boring stick in the mud alongside the turtles.

I hope so, even if we have to wait till season three than fine!

I really liked the guy so.

I don't know guys if we will be seeing any of that soon...I am a very big usagi yojimbo fan and would love to see him portrayed correctly in the nick toon...
but unfortunatelly stans lovely wife sharon is battling cancer at the moment and so stan wouldn't find the time to invest himself in such a production I think...
but hey, maybe the show lasts for more than 3 seasons and so perhaps if time permits we'll be seeing usagi on the show in the end...

I want him, he is an awesome charater

Doesn't one of the shops in New York have a giant white rabbit painted onto it, or as a sign?

Someone suggested it might be a homage but I don't know if it would mean he's actually appearing as a character. I know very little about him.

BubblyShell22 02-22-2014 08:31 AM

Yes, there's a magic shop that was shown in "Invasion of the Squirrelanoids, but it looked nothing like Usagi as the rabbit had a top hat on his head.

As for if he'll appear, only Ciro knows for sure. I'd love for him to show up, but if he doesn't, that's okay too.

Darn it.

I was expecting your next thread to be "Is Irma Fong's Daughter?", with a close second to "Will Fishface be double mutated into Bebop or Rocksteady?"

You're totally unpredictable Cubed...:D

Yeah, and in 'it came from the depths' Donnie leaves a bunny rabbit shaped scorch mark on the wall. But that doesn't mean that is a homage to Usagi or reference that he's coming.

I'm sure Usagi will make his way into the Nick series, he was a pretty popular character before, appearing in comics as well as the OT and 2k3 series.

I kinda wonder if he was part of the inspiration for creating Captain Bucky O'Hare. In turn, I think Bucky was the reason why they made a Space Usagi figure. Between those two, it makes me wonder if super hero rabbits was trying to become a thing in the early 90's, haha.

I'm hoping like crazy that Usagi will be in this show. I consider him a fan fave and since this show has been so good to the oldest fans among us I'm sure they would love to have him in there at some point.

He needs Stan sakai's approval before he's used. So we can't say we're likely to see him given the business contracts that need to be signed for him to be used.

Did Stan Sakai get any royalties for Usagi's appearances in the previous cartoons?

Powder 02-22-2014 05:57 PM

If there's any chance we'll see him in a post-Laird turtleverse, I think it'd be in the IDW books.

Donatello19 02-22-2014 06:01 PM

...hard to say, but it's possible. I'm leaning more towards no, however.

VaughnMichael 02-22-2014 09:27 PM

They will probably replace him with Kung-Fu Panda.

CyberCubed 02-22-2014 09:40 PM

They had better not.
