What's your favorite part(s) of TMNT?
Personally, my favorite part is the brotherhood and family dynamic. Seeing these individuals with such different personalities love each other and work together as a team is really cool for me. I also really like how Ninja Turtles is so many different genres: martial arts action, sci-fi comedy-drama, crime thriller, and, sometimes, mystical fantasy. So, what are your favorite parts of TMNT?
|
In truth, I think my favorite thing about the TMNT is that each one has something I can relate to, and the really funny part, out of all of the superheroes that have been invented over the century (Batman, X-Men, Superman, Captain America, The Hulk, what not) I really do find myself relating to the Turtles more than any of those other characters.
|
The variety of genres, influence of Japanese culture, & the poignancy (the latter relating mostly to the Mirage books). Those are my favorite aspects of it. Plus, funky monsters.
|
Family, especially the adoption angle.
|
The Ninja Turtles are the most unique of super heroes. They fit into sci-fi space and time travel, aspects of comedy, serious action, adventure not neccessarily tied to New York City, and martial arts sub genre and the aspect of family. It has so much to offer despite the odd premise that is Ninja Turtles.
Secondly, the variety of interesting characters from the four turtles to the variety of cool villians and even unique and fun allies. Sure I enjoy Batman and Spiser-Man for its characters but nothing beats the concepts of TMNT. |

I think Shredder is probably my favorite part of the TMNT world. The Shredder is probably my favorite villain of ANY franchise. He's just so cool. I mean I love the turtles as well. But I think I love Shredder as a villain even more.

Shredder/Splinter feud.
It's always done pretty well and with each different series, I find my self on pins and needles waiting for the next Splinter (or Yoshi) vs. Saki throw down. Quote:

I like how it can vary from being lighthearted and funny like the OT or dark and serious like 2k3 or Mirage and yet I can still enjoy it. I also really like the family dynamic, how the turtles are a family and how they interact.
|
-how the turtles are great separate and unstoppable together as a team. but like a true family of brothers they argue and fight.
-Early OT shredder and movie shredder. the nearly unbeatable force of evil. -the technodrome for obvious reasons. |
The pure insanity of it all: a multiverse that where almost anything can happen, where all genres are possible: fantasy, science fiction, thriller, martial arts...yeah. Plus all the freaks and creatures that are equally motley, and the way that the tone of TMNT can radically shift depending on the series--but all of it is at home.
Also, any character I happen to grow attached to. |
The pure absurdity of it. This reminds me of the silver age where a wild, crazy or sometimes downright stupid idea can be awesome. Heck to me Mirage was Golden age, OT is very much the silver age of the series and 2k3 was the bronze age.
And I absouletly love it. Because of the malleble concept that is TMNT you can pretty much just change the setting while still keeping the core story in tact. Like A steampunk version where Mutants are common place but are 3rd class citizens and April could be the Mother of Steam engineering. Just make sure that the Yoshi and Saki feud still finds a place in the story and your set. There new universe. |
The characters and their family dynamic.
The action is fun, and I love the humor, but it's the Turtles themselves that connect with me the most. If I don't like the way they are portrayed, I'm not going to like that particular corner of the franchise even if the plotlines are good. The opposite is also true - even if the storyline isn't all that interesting, if I like the Turtles, I'll still enjoy it. |
This is a great thread.
I'm just going to say, I LOVE BEING A TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE FAN!
I think another one of my biggest likes, is that it survived the test of time! My poor cousin, her favorite comic book character is Gambit, and he's part of the X-Men universe, a much bigger universe than the Turtles, and yet my boys have had how many comic book adaptations? 4 movies, a 5th on it's way, 4 TV series, and two of them lasted a lot longer than some prime time Emmy live action shows. The toys, collectables, clothing and other gear. Really, we are a lucky little niche in the comic book/nerdville world. |
The 87-96 series for me. It holds so many fantastic memories and it really was turtlemania at that time. I had turtles in time on the C64 and I loved that too. I really have to check out the mirage comics. They look pretty cool and I'm a big comics nut.

This thread isn't asking what your favorite version of the show is.
|
I love the diverse selections of mutants, good or bad, in all the universes.
