New animals for mutations

In the past, Bebop and Rocksteady, a boar & rhino were the Shredder's minions.

In 2012, Dogpound, later on Rahzar & Fishface took over the services of the Shredder.

But I was wondering... what animals would you all want mutated in future TMNTs? Because I was thinking of something.... ninja-based.

A butterfly could look pretty cool or a centipede with all those legs. It'd be really big.

Kanon 05-10-2014 01:17 AM

Cat, Snake, Hawk, Raven, Red Panda, ....

And before I get scolded:
I didn`t read any comicbooks (exept IDW #1-8 ) and didn`t watched the OT-series,
so I don`t know if there is already one character like this. :P

Hmm, a Dinosaur of some kind would be rad, be it a Triceraton or something new. More insects would be cool, maybe a scorpion, or a beetle or something. Sisyphus had potential.

I have a bunch of mutant characters in my mind but they were created to fit in with the Playmates toyline of the early 90's. A gladiator armadillo, kickboxing spider, army general bald eagle, Hammerhead shark, etc. Not quite a fit for the Nick series. :trazz: I really ought to draw those fellas again soon...

Great white

Sharks are badass. Just any ferocious killer in the animal kingdom really. Lion, gorilla, mongoose, Tasmanian devil, came toad. Toads would make good villains. Honey badger, I know some of these have been done but whatever just sayin.

A sloth mutant, no one would expect a sloth to be a martial arts fighter.

Refractive Reflections 05-10-2014 04:01 AM

I think a lot of the mutants have already been done now especially due in part to the Archie and Nick universes. At this point, I'm only interested to see what animals can be mutated outside of the cliché ferocious animals, that could contribute to an interesting character quality or ability into a TMNT storyline. With Nick mutating food (i.e. Ice Cream Kitty and Pizza Face), I think the bigger question is, "Besides animals what other things (plants, inanimate objects, etc.) can or will probably be mutated?"

I think that was already done in the Archie universe with Armaggon. I don't know about Toads, but there were the Punk Frogs in the OT who were ignorant "bad guys" by associating with Shredder before realizing their naivety and becoming friends with the Turtles.

That would be a twist; I'm sure there would be some jokes from other characters asking if the sloth was actually trying to fight or perform Tai Chi (even though it comes from a martial art) knowing how slow it moves. :P

True but the turtles themselves are also based on slow animals. No wonder they're confused for Kung fu frogs.

Has there ever been a skunk mutant? I got to thinking about that a few days ago when someone mentioned them as roadkill in another thread. Then I was also thinking of a weasel or maybe a hyena. Bison also comes to mind. Of course my first thought was a lion but we've already got Lionheart. I'm a sucker for big cats. What can I say? It'd be interesting if we could get some sort of lion or lioness character to best TigerClaw a few times in the Nick show. When it comes to the aquatic, how about an octopus or squid? Multi-armed mutants have always interested me. They could hold more weapons. hehe

Ever since the punk frogs, they proved to be useless.

So I thought, what if we give their names to different animals. Perhaps they'll be the Shredder's mutant elite guard of the Foot.

For those animals that can be ninja based... a scorpion with its stinging tail, a skunk with its stinking smell, a chameleon with camoflage, a raccoon who hides in the shadows, a poison dart frog with its poisonous touch and a crow with its ability to search things shiny.

I'm partial to Big Cat mutants, I would like to see some female mutants. Maybe a Lion, Cheetah, Panther, Leopard, Jaguar, Cougar, Lynx, Ocelot.

Extinct species please.

Yes it would be interesting to have mutants of the Dodo, the American Lion, and the Giant Aye-Aye

909 Turtle Fan 05-10-2014 11:47 AM

mutant bearded dragon would be the ish :twink:

ninja-zero 05-10-2014 12:15 PM

Since Wingnut was a failure.

How about a new bat mutant that guards an abandoned castle and is in the style of a dracula and a musketeer?

That is a good point! For me, I think... sloths have a very slow metabolism, and turtles may also (unsure). I assumed though that turtles were slow because of their heavy shell and because we see them more on land instead of in the water (their legs and webbed feet are more adapted for water), and the water environment is a denser medium where it can support the shell and make its weight far lighter. Therefore with all those features, makes them able to swim/move fast.

One could make an analogy where a dog on land can move/fast (since that's the environment its adapted for), but in water can only perform the slow doggy paddle swim technique. If we were marine living animals (rather than living on land), we could easily say the dog is a "slow" animal since our perspective would primarily see these dogs in the water. The turtle comparison is more of a difference of environmental perspective (I think at least), but as for the sloth, its adaptions are best suited for land within the canopy of the trees (like a monkey), but yet it still moves slowly (unlike a monkey).

:P But anyways, we'll need a zoologist or someone familiar with animal biology to clarify the issue.

NoName999 05-10-2014 12:36 PM

Also the fact that that turtles in their teen years are basically the equivalent of a grade school child

Luckyday 05-10-2014 02:02 PM

Either Snakes or a troop of human sized ants mutants.

Being a turtle owner for almost 15 years, owning Red-Eared and Yellow bellied Sliders. I can tell you that turtles, at least sliders, which the Ninja Turtles have been portrayed as in both Mirage and the live-action movies, and probably Nick cartoon. Are really fast. They move very quickly, and are quite proficient climbers, as they can scale a chicken fence with little to no problems.

Donatello19 05-10-2014 02:52 PM

I always thought a skunk mutant would've been cool.
