I wouldn't actually call it a total lack Flawed yes but not a lack of. I mean they do have the trailers out they're are viewable by the public. Does it suck and is it stupid they haven't the 3rd tv spot and 3rd trailer online in HD yeah it does, does it suck that only one of the BTS nick movie trailers is online Yeah it does, but the point is they are viewable they are out there just not in a way that accessible that's the issue.

im upset because its upsetting other more. I mean im happy iwth what i have seen im patient enough to know i will see it eventually, But it suck that other are upset, Sure i want to see the trailer, and yes even i admit what they are currently doing seems kind of stupid.

But they obviously have something planned why have all this stuff going on all over the world and all that all i can think of. BUt come july 31st and they have yet to release more then we no there is a problem

Cure 06-21-2014 10:33 PM

I don't care. I know the movie exists and I will go see it. All I care about.

Thanks for this useless thread!

Every turtle fan I know in real life knows about it.

They all think it sucks, but they know about it.

Zulithe 06-21-2014 11:36 PM

too early to say, I think they would have started it by now if not for Transformers 4, they are trying to focus on it right now and the push for TMNT will come the following week.

They are cutting it close though

Powder 06-22-2014 12:05 AM

Regardless of my opinion of the film on a creative level, I think it's not so much the amount of marketing that is an issue, but rather how poor what they have done is. Lots of recycled stock art (with nonsensical anatomy), bad photoshop jobs, many inconsistencies, being vague about the movie, etc.

Leo656 06-22-2014 12:31 AM

Honestly? It makes me feel thusly: They got nothin', they know they got nothin', and they're so afraid of backlash that they don't even WANT to expose the movie to too many people before it comes out. Try and think back to all the stuff we've seen over the last year about the movie, alllll the different things we've seen that have influenced our opinions for better or worse... and how precious little of that has been anything official, anything we were "supposed" to see. Just leaks, leaks, and more leaks, until finally, they meekly pop out a couple mostly-identical trailers that only serve to be even more polarizing.

I just think it's funny that in like, March/April, people were swearing up and down that Platinum Dunes would be blitzing the landscape with advertising by June, and they haven't. There are only two explanations, both pretty plausible: They're afraid they're sitting on a bomb, OR, most of the money that was cut from the budget came from the advertising budget. And that very well could be, as it's usually the first thing to go.

The movie business is very much pay-to-play. The movies that get big hype do big business, those that don't get the hype don't make the money, it's as cut-and-dry as that. It doesn't absolutely mean the movie is bad, but it doesn't display any confidence at all on the part of the people who made it. Point blank, in the entertainment industry, when you have something everyone's gonna want a piece of, you make damn sure everyone on Earth and beyond knows about it. For whatever else the movie might be, the marketing itself for it has been abysmal.

I kind of thought Nickelodeon was taking the promotion/marketing seriously after reading this thread:
http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=47849

...But the timing is oddly suspicious though for a film's production budget of $125 million with only 7 weeks left to the release date, and the vagueness of the film's details still at this point (as Powder mentioned above).

pennydreadful 06-22-2014 03:13 AM

Honestly? Sometimes... like this:

But maybe I'm just being an overly entitled fan (haha). :P

Seriously, now that we're at the 6 week mark, I'm calming down a bit - the countdown's nearly at an end; one way or another, we'll get what's coming to us. *shrugs*

Though I can't be held responsible for any bouts of nerdrage which may occur if they pull another paint swatches stunt.

It's not the lack of marketing that pisses me off. It's the quality of marketing that we're getting. It's like Paramount just used interns for marketing this movie.

CyberCubed 06-22-2014 08:09 AM

The movie is already hated by TMNT fans so they probably figure it's not worth spending money on advertising

Zulithe 06-22-2014 08:13 AM

Lots of transformers fans have issues with the TF films too, they aren't trying to sell the movie to the hardcore fans who they know will nitpick every change, but to the ones who probably remember bits and pieces of it from their childhood and want something action-packed to go see. Also kids.

I do not hate this movie...

TheSkeletonMan939 06-22-2014 08:28 AM

The very little marketing we do get for this film is complete and utter ****. The trailers (at least the released ones) are non-informative and if nothing else make me want to see the film less.

Overall I just think the studio regrets having ever made this film. It makes me feel like if the company pumping millions into the film doesn't even care about whether it fails or not, why should I think it's any good?

sh3llshocked 06-22-2014 08:28 AM

A lot of people don't hate this movie, but the few that do love to make their presence know.

Neither do I. In fact despite what little we've been getting, I'm excited for this movie.

chrisdude 06-22-2014 08:30 AM

I've never watched a promotional campaign this closely, so it's hard to compare. But I'm not mad. The only thing upsetting me is that trailer 3 is in theaters, but not online.

Seemed like a lot of people were hearing about the movie for the first time, through promos during the NBA tournament. That's late. At the same time, I don't think you need to know about a movie five months in advance to want to see it. The movie needs to be fresh in people's minds by the time it comes out.

But we're not talking about a movie that's had no promotion. This movie has trailers, TV spots, and deals with the X-Games, Crush soda, and that music festival the hip kids like. Heck, I saw a movie promo in Barnes and Noble, the other day. I think people are blowing this out of proportion by comparing the marketing campaign to that of the biggest movies in the world, instead of movies with a $125 mil budget.

And I still don't buy the idea that they're trying to cover up a stinker, when their promos and trailers specifically highlight everything that's been controversial.

CyberCubed 06-22-2014 08:52 AM

The movie will completely tank. I wish there was some way to prevent its release .
