"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV": the NT:TNM re-edit
 

I don't have much of any spare time to devote to it at the moment or even in the immediately foreseeable future... but I do intend to one day get to this.

Basically, it's this: me taking the whole series (or more specifically, the only season ever produced of it) of NT:TNM, editing/chopping/boiling it down to a feature length film. All voices would be redubbed and the whole thing would be re-foleyed, with different music (probably borrowing from the first film's score and the Imagi movie too). All camp would be removed and it would deliver on the promise of NT:TNM that wasn't really true of it at all: that these are the Turtles from the original 3 movies, now older and not f***ing around. Venus would still be there, but now wholly their sister and no weird tension going on. New special effects and roto work would be added in, perhaps a smattering of blood and even a touch of dismemberment. It would be better transitioned from the original trilogy to this film, with it explained how Shredder became un-Super-Shreddered and all that. The story, per se, would be different, but all cut from existing footage.

It'd be recomposited it for widescreen (which means some of the top and/or bottoms of each shot would be lost but... on something like this, I don't see that being detrimental), changing the lighting, coloring, and all of that.

I'd probably retitle it to just "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV." Maybe with an "X" over the teenage in the title.

Would there be any interest in such a thing? Would anyone think they could do any voices?

I'd definitely be up for it. I'm not sure how you can salvage the "story" since Shredder was only in like...3 episodes and the rest of it is about either Dragon Lord or recurring villains like Bonesteel.

The fact that the first 5 episodes make a "mini-movie" already makes me wonder if you'd just choose from the first 5 rather than all 26. It's not like characters such as Vam Mi or Dr. Quease have any reason to be there.

Sounds like a great idea. It might be enough to make The Next Mutation content worth consuming, maybe even considered 'good'

I'd watch it, but that's pretty hard to make with only existing footage.

It's kind of a fun challenge, though. I think I'll whittle away at it little by little in rough form on days when my eyes are burned out from all this roto work I'm doing on other stuff.

And it's an odd sort of thing. I can't just sit down and write a script for it... I sort of have to find all the "usuable" shots and moments, have a rough idea in my head of what I want to do from there that is possible within what is in my lap, lay it all out, and THEN kind of watch it over again and see what sort of dialogue is possible here and there and THEN come up with some kind of script. Completely backwards.

The fight scenes in Next Mutation really weren't much different than the movie trilogy, so its not like it'd be any worse than the fights in the movies. Its just Next Mutation had these god awful kiddy sound effects everytime someone got kicked in the show, like a clown car beeping or a horn blowing unlike what the movies did.

The movies did that in a few spots, but nowhere near as consistently excessive as NT:TNM did.

So that's what the German dub team watched before working on the Turtles Der Film DVD...

I can do a really solid Raphael in general, but especially the 3rd film's version. & I just so happen to do a tight Kevin Clash Splinter, too. Would love to be involved.

I wonder if you could cast a new actress as April, and somehow insert her into this film. Given April was in all the movies it would be odd to see her left out here.

I wonder if there are any actress you know who resemble either of the April's from the movies.

I've done voice work in the past and know how to take direction. Unfortunately I doubt my voice will be useful, as I'm generally cast as young boys as opposed to teenage or adult men. But if you think it could, you're free to talk to me about it I guess? lmao

Not entirely interested in a Next Mutation-based project but it does sound like a neat idea, so I hope you get it off the ground!

Totes, and it'd be way cool to hear the voices done by people on the board - I think it'd be really interesting to hear their versions of the characters.

That would be pretty awesome. Too bad there aren't many female roles. (Right, like I'd ever be brave enough to do that anyhow, I hate hearing myself recorded. lol)

So gentlemen.. who has a hot voice for Leo? (And lets say Raph as well). *cough* Oh.. um.. ok.. leaving the thread now... *sneaks away*

I would love to see this realized. I just think it would be extremely difficult to modify it too much. I think it's impossible to get rid of the camp completely, but toning it down would do wonders for this. The lighting and colorizing would also be a welcome addition. It's too bad there isn't a blu ray of this show to give you a better palette to work from.

I'd love to voice this. I'd audition for Leonardo or maybe the Shredder? This would be so sweet. I'll keep checking in for details for an actual audition.

As far as April's concerned, maybe explain that she mutated into Venus.

That'd leave us with the problem of un-mutating April at the end. The idea is to segue the end of this TMNT 4 into the Imagi film.
