London Film and Comic Con
This weekend is the London Film and Comic Con (a rather poor, distant cousin of SDCC, but it's better than nothing). Whilst there's no A-list TMNT related appearances, we do get:
Erik Larsen (cover artist and editor of Volume 3) Jack Lawrence (artist for some issues of the current UK TMNT magazine) Might be others I haven't spotted - certainly I've been before and have suddenly spotted some original art by someone I never knew worked on the Turtles in the past. http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/ |
I'll be going along on the Sunday, looking forward to it.
Cheers, Doug |
Have fun dudes! Wish i could go :(
|
Too close to me going to the US to attend sadly...
|
That's 1/2 of us going so far :)
Cheesebrush - You're a Reading bloke aren't you? Cheers, Doug |
I am indeed from Reading.
The bad news is that although I planned to go to LFCC today, when I got there an hour before opening, the queue was so ridiculously big I just couldn't be bothered so turned round and went to the BFI IMAX (biggest cinema screen in the UK) to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 instead. In previous years I've arrived at that sort of time and I get a spot in the queue that takes me 15 minutes to get in (after about an hours wait) - I can even see the entrance door. But today the queue went all the way from the Earls Court 2 building at the back of the exhibition complex, round the side and to the front of Earls Court 1 where it then filled the concourse out the front too! Looking on Twitter there was talk of people taking 3 or 4 hours just to get inside! Ridiculous. Really glad I didn't bother. Just hope it's not as bad for anyone going tomorrow - I think Sunday is usually quieter. I even tried consoling myself with a McDonalds vanilla milkshake (a guilty pleasure) but at all 4 of the branches I visited their milkshake machine wasn't working! The world is against me today... |
Coolio, we'll have to grab a pint at some point :)
Shame you couldn't get in, bought my ticket online for tomorrow so hopefully shouldn't be too bad to get in, planning to get the train about 7ish to get there in plenty of time. Taking the armour so could do without dragging a massive hold-all through thick (in both senses of the word) crowds. Cheers, Doug Oh, and milkshakes are the devil's own work! |
Good luck getting in - I think even those with pre-purchased tickets still had surprisingly long wait times today.
What's your armour? Full plate? Stormtrooper? NBC suit to protect from the noxious body odours given off by an alarmingly high percentage of attendees? And McDonalds milkshakes are full of yummy horse-hoof goodness! |
Hey, for those going, stop by my buddy John-Paul Bove's table and say hi. He's minor TMNT alumni, having written a few of the UK 2012 comic strips, and is one of the funniest guys you could meet.
(and buy some prints off of him. I probably drew them, and could use the change.) |

I went today and the only things I could see from the new movie were the standee (there were about 5 or 6 dotted about the venue) and a few toys from the film

I went there. It was pretty cool.
|
I've heard a lot of reports about it being... how to politely word this? Not the best run convention.
|
There is a lot of queuing even if you have Early Bird tickets.
