Do Kids Know there is a new TMNT movie in August?

Ok before we get started and i get called a Hater, a whiney fan boy,not a true fan, saying i hate this movie and i want it to fail..stop it right now people have different opinions and experiences and this is something that came to my attention recently..be adults and don't attack each other if someone posts something you are against just walk away

Ok, so i was going to write this yesterday, since it actually happened yesterday, but i wanted to let my words be thought out before i posted

as most of you know i am "The Boston Ninja Turtle" well yesterday i did one of my Events at a local McDonalds..Kids loved it,glowing eyes.happy moments blah blah blah.

Kids ages ranged from infant to 13 id say maybe 150 kids came

now this time around i had a handler who talked for me since in the mask i have a hard time speaking, and she would ask the Kids "Are you excited for the New Movie?" and a good chunk of them would look at her like a deer in headlights, id say 4 out of 6 didn't know what she was talking about, neither did some parents..and remember these werent babies...now some kids did know and said yes or maybe (maybe ones where more excited donnie was in front of them)

now this is where the question comes..Do kids know this movie is coming? is Nick not airing trailers during the show?..i admit i don't watch TMNT when it airs i usually stream it or download it so commercials are gone.

and almost every kid said the same thing "We watch you and the others every week"..so again i ask do kids know about this movie?

MrTMNT2012 07-10-2014 09:23 AM

I guess we'll find out when the Box Office results release seeing how the majority watching this movie would be kids.

Nick hasn't really promoted the movie to that extent (there's no where near the hype Spongebob: The Movie garnered due to the trailers after an episode) but I do know a lot of kids definitely know about the movie.

The Transformers crowd went nuts after the TMNT trailer in the cinema so there's that...

Maybe not now, but a week or two before the movie is out. I'm sure it'll be more public that a TMNT movie is in the theaters. I know where I live, that's the time period trailers go in TV.

It sucks that you have to write a disclaimer to begin your statement Boston. I like when there are people who can freely state an opinion even if its for or against the film. That is how it should be and people should respect that and there should be none of that true fan, not a true fan nonsense. We all are here for one reason and that's The Turtles.

As for if kids know about this movie or not. I'm thinking this is going to be more for the children of the 80s and 90s while bringing new fans in on the Turtles. I hope there is stuff directed for the adults in the audience that will go over the kids heads.

I think kids know about it or will know about it look at where they have been showing these tv spots at, on Nick and Sporting Events

Is this movie really directed towards kids? I doubt it.

getting slightly off topic

ive learned over the years..especially local to me..parents dont care when it comes to the rating or even content....my super local theater (like i can open my window and touch it local)

they have a no kids after 8pm on weeknights, and a "please refrain from bringing kids after 7 pm to rated r movies" now they do what they can to enforce them but they dont want to ruin peoples days

just some parents dont care...when i saw Wanted it was full of kids

From what we've seen, I'm pretty sure kids aged 8 - 13 are the main demographic. Plus, it's got "Nickelodeon movies" in the opening credits of the adverts.

When I was a kid (I feel super old for saying that :ohwell:) the television was the babysitter and a generation of latchkey kids were born and while I hate when kids interrupt movies its better for the parent and kids to be seeing movies together. If a movie can be written with this in mind and its able to speak to the adults while keeping the kids entertained I consider it a well rounded film.

I imagine the premiere will be at 7 the night before instead of the usual midnight premiere time of 12:01 with kids in mind.

I live in the middle of nowhere and my nephews (6 and 7) are begging me to take them since I'm the only one who goes to movies in the family. So at least here kids seem to know, lol.

dude, you are such a hater - clearly you want this movie to fail.:D

i couldnt resist.

but seriously tho - im surprised to hear that this was the case at the establishment you performed at seeing as how a majority of the promos that leaked came straight from the NICK channel.

haha oh you

thats why i was surprised..again i don't watch the NICK show when it airs or watch NICK in general so i can't speak from experience seeing the promos or not on TV..the rare cable TV i do watch never really shows anything turtle wise but i see a lot of Apes recently

That is odd. There have been several short trailers on TV here. Maybe it is by region but I figured us hicks in the South got stuff last. I was wrong.

Never, which is the most ridiculous part about their lack/style of so-called "marketing" if you ask me. If this movie is kid friendly you would THINK it would have been airing in breaks of the episodes. I always catch the new ones... never seen a single commercial on Nick, let alone during the show's time block.

Personally with the level of action and steroids they seem to be aiming for, it makes me wonder if the network owner (Viacom?) is putting it on channels like Spike or something instead.

I've not personally seen it air, granted I don't watch a whole lot of tv, but it's not like I haven't run across the Apes, Transformers, and other trailers at least a little.

Where region is concerned, my tv service is shared with Philadelphia, I would think that should have been an easy one...

Metropoliskid41 07-10-2014 01:56 PM

I don't watch all that tv, especially on the weekends when they should be running the crap out of the trailers, but I can honestly say that I have yet to see a commercial or trailer for the movie on tv while I was watching. That's pretty sad, GotG has a trailer play around once an hour on the tv channels I watch.

chrisdude 07-10-2014 01:58 PM

I haven't seen ads during the cartoon, either. But they might just wait until the last couple weeks. As much as we rag on their promotion, it really is the heaviest in the last two weeks or so.

MsMarvelDuckie 07-10-2014 02:11 PM

I'd say at this point, the parents are more likely to know than the kids- at least the stay-at-home moms. I say this because I've seen more mention of it on shows like Access Hollywood, TMZ, and Dish Nation (which just had Robbie Rist on today!!) than anywhere else, and all of them air during mid-day. I've seen NO trailers yet in my area, aside from what we have on you-tube and other video-streaming sites, even though Apes has had trailers several times a day especially in the evenings. Guardians is also ramping up on the trailers, but still no TMNT ones. The most I've seen is Megan Fox on a couple of shows and in Cosmo and a couple of other mags with just a brief mention of the movie itself.

If the series season is holding off on it's last episodes until then and show it during breaks, then good move on their part. If the series season doesn't come back until after the movie premiers... stupid stupid fail of a lost opportunity.

TurtleTitan97 07-10-2014 02:14 PM

I overheard some kids from my youth group talking about it last Thursday. They seemed excited for it.

Warhorse 07-10-2014 03:32 PM

Kids know. When I went to see Transformers about 2 weeks ago, there were kids that were waiting for the TMNT trailer to show.

zodiac brave 07-10-2014 04:24 PM

i remember that i didn't know there was a movie coming out back in '90.

my mom actually told me about it and took me on a saturday or sunday afternoon.

i would think a lot of the younger kids might not be aware of the movie, but doesn't mean they wont get a chance to see it.

especially since this flick is getting so much attention from older people who remember the older show n movies, it wouldn't surprise me if some of them took their kids without much prompting.
