Movie and 'Legend of the Yokai' scenario *MAJOR SPOILERS*

Ok, going with what we now know from the TMNT film and it's tie in 'legend of the yokai' clip, we can now piece together the chain of events for the movie universe (things in perentheisis are speculation);

-in ancient japan, a shredder-like warlord attacked the people with an army of yokai (possibly mutants), and four kappa yokai appeared to defend the people.

-trained in ninjitsu by a master shinobi (possibly Hamato Yoshi) the kappa yoaki defeated the warlord and his yokai, and then vanished- becoming a legend in japanese folklore.

-centuries later, during the vietnam war, an illegitame child of a US soldier and a local girl (the soldier possibly being named Stockman, and the child being named baxter) is orphaned or abandoned, and adopted by oroku saki into the foot.He is renamed Eric Sachs

-Fifteen years ago, Sachs and April's father attempted to re-create the four kappa from the legend to be heroes by mututating four turtles. The trutles and an experimental mutated rat escape the lab, and Dr. O' neal is killed in a fire.

-The rat (possibly the reincarnation of yoshi, from the legend), 'remembers' ninjitsu by 'learning' it from an old book in the sewers. He trains his four adopted turtle sons in the art of the shinobi.

Does all this sound about right for the movie universe's back story?

Obviously I've not seen it but what's been said by those who have then the answer is a firm..

Spoiler:
no. It doesn't seem like the whole Yokai legend plays into the movie at all

are asking people to comment on your theories, or are you asking people who've actually seen the film to attest to the validity of your speculation?

validuty of speculation. I already know the movie doesn't mention this stuff, I'm just seeing if it also rules out the possibility of it altogether.

And I read in one spoiler post about the turtles being made to be like the 'heroes of the legend'- and I wonder if the ''Yokai' clip, even if not directly referenced in the movie, might not be the legend they are referring to.

I would say that sounds like a fair assumption. Seems silly to have released that clip otherwise.

Something convinces me there is more to shredder's backstory with the turtles... for one thing, where did those scars come from? I'm thinking Oroku Saki might be an immortal, kept young by doses of the mutagen since the sengoku period. It would explained why he revived after touching the mutagen in the new movie.

Look at the thread title that says *SPOILERS* before jumping into a thread.

Where are those people's quotes? I think the scroll alone proves that not to be true. And this sounds like a foundation to be set up. They wouldn't just post the Yokai video for the hell of it.. so I think it will play in some how. I think the OP is onto something :wink:

I wonder if the film went into last minute editing before the Official Premiere today. These things sometimes happen, Where they finish up editing the film before it premieres, We are still 5 days away from the official theatrical release, Anything is possible.
