What is the mutagen for?
I know there as been lots of speculation as to what the mutagen was for. We know it's dangerous and unpredictable outside of Dimention X, but we have yet to learn the real intent of the mutagen aside from terraforming the Earth so that the Kraang can live here.
Has anybody thought the purpose of the mutagen could be used to create more Kraang? I know that sounds weird, but bear with me. All the kraang we've seen talk with a masculine voice. The only exception is Kraang prime, and even Kraang prime was confirmed to be quote unquote male. So that could mean two things... One the Kraang have no actual gender and some how reproduce by budding. Or two they are created through some other means. We are given some hints of something to this in Metalhead. After Donnie makes that "You're mother wears army boots" taunt. And instead of immediately attacking, the Kraang controlling Metalhead says that comment showed ignorance of their species. Before he says "The ones known by you as mother..." before Donnie cuts him off. So what does that statement mean "The ones known by you as mother..." Answer "Do not exist"? |
It must be cloning or some other sort of replication.
Look at the squirrelanoids and how they seem to divide like bacteria within the host. Obviously the mutagen in their system plays a part in that. Ordinary squirrels don't just replicate... or do they? http://youtu.be/0-MVE1Hz8dI |
Wasn't it stated back in Season 1 the Kraang were planning on using it to terraform the planet so that they could live on it?

And also the kraang see themselves as handsome even though they are actually quite ugly. |

There is still much to learn about the Kraang, so who knows.
I don't deny the plausibility of this being just head cannon as there isn't any real baring linking that the intent of mutating creatures with the Mutagen is meant to make more Kraang. But why have that one Kraang say "The ones known by you as 'mother'..." statement and have it be a throw away line. |
Maybe they do use the Mutagen for something outside of terraforming stuff. They said in the earth dimension, it didn't work the way that they had intended which makes me wonder how they use it in Dimension X. Have they conquered other worlds and used mutagen?
I'm surprised this isn't speculated on more, but I think we'll get more of an answer (or at least something we can theorize on) once we get to the Dimension X eps. Quote:

I think it's still up for debate what the Kraang intend to do with the mutagen.

besides terraforming, the kraang also use it to experiment.
example: parasitica they get to the lab where they say kraang mustve been experimenting. then they see the large wasp, which donnie is shocked looks exactly like a wasp, not a hybrid. so they obviously use it for something, as an episode or 2 after the brainwashing wasp, they have a kraang device to brainwash kirby |
It's basically like a cow's milk, only they sucked it out of worms from their planet.
My theory is that, April being immune to mutagen can produce antimutagen too. And the way to do it is by sucking it out of her tits, just like the worms and the cows. |

But it kinda fits don't you think? Blame Ciro and his team lol. :P

I not sure it really works like that, April is also part human. |
Maybe it's just the drug that fuels the Kraang's companionship? You know, like how alcohol is the reason you get new friends after 20.
|
Well given how twisted the Kraang are, it would not surprise me if they use it to breed themselves by using the victims that they conquer and mutated them after touching kranng prime. After the mutation, they either cut the kraang part from the body or (this is the really twisted part) the victim essentially dies from the mutation but the baby Kraang lives on and controls the dead body zombie. Fortunately, the mutagen when they're in on our dimension does not work on the kraang which is why they have to make do with the robot shells.

This is a good theory. Maybe all the Kraang spawned off Prime or a king of some sorts.
|
And it makes April that much important to them. April is immune to mutagen but never the less is still part Kraang so if something were to happen and they end up stuck in our dimension then they would become extinct.
